JOB SUMMARY: Provides healthcare services applying x-ray energy to assist in diagnosis or treatment. Performs radiologic procedures and related techniques producing images for interpretation by or at the request of a licensed practitioner.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Registry eligible or Registered Radiographic Technologist certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT), or registry eligible technologist that will be required to pass the ARRT radiography certification within one (1) year of hire date.

Licensure for State of Arkansas.

Education: Graduate of a program of Radiologic Technology accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) or a graduate of a military program accredited by JRCERT. Preferred: registered, certified or licensed in multimodalities such as CT, NM, PET, MRI, or US.

Experience: No experience required.

Physical Requirements:
The physical activities involve balancing, climbing, crawling, grasping, kneeling, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, standing, stooping and use of fingers and repetitive movements.

An individual in this position may be required to carry or lift weight of up to fifty (50) pounds and push/pull one hundred/one hundred-fifty 100-150 pounds. The sensory and communicative activities required for this position include feeling, hearing, seeing, smelling and speaking. Individuals in this position could possibly be exposed to inside environmental conditions, blood borne pathogens and body fluids, chemical hazards, respiratory hazards and radiological hazards.

Skills:
Able to use complex imaging equipment and computers. Demonstrates good interpersonal skills and readily adapts to changing events in the radiographic environment.

PRIMARY CUSTOMERS: Patients, physicians and employees.

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS: Be effective team member in Radiology.

CORE COMPETENCIES & PERFORMANCE CRITERIA
1.Patient Assessment:

Completes a comprehensive assessment on patients of all ages including patient screening and contraindications.

Obtains pertinent medical history from patient by observation or with oral communication.

Performs patient assessment to determine:

a) Patient's physical ability to undergo the imaging procedure as needed.

b) What patient care is needed during the procedure.

c) What modification of the procedure may be required by the age of the patient.

d) If there are contraindications to performing the procedure as ordered.
2.Documentation:

Utilizes patient clinical assessment and patient clinical history in making professional judgment that supports the plan of patient care and properly documents the patient assessment and clinical history.

Exercises professional judgment in performance of services and maintains a demeanor complimentary to medical ethics.

Capable of using EHR

Documents pertinent medical history from patient on radiology request form.

Completes appropriate forms correctly:

a) Time Out

b) Pregnancy Statement

c) Medication Reconciliation

d) H & P

Uses immobilizing devices as required by the patient's age, condition or the procedure as determined by patient assessment.

Using professional judgment:

a) Performs the procedure as ordered with proper and appropriate indications for procedure.

b) Modifies procedure as required through knowledge gained by patient assessment without compromising diagnostic or therapeutic outcome.

Actively assist in meeting all department accrediting and licensing standards including:

a) JCAHO.

b) State Health Department.

c) Any other state, local or federal agency as required.
3.Communication:

Ensures that communication supports the plan of patient care.

Communicates clearly with patients of all ages, peers and others in order to complete the hospital/physician plan of patient care.

Notifies the patient's attending physician or Radiologist of any patient issues that affect the plan of patient care as directed within the time frames identified in the Radiology Policy Manual.

a) Or notifies the nurse on the patient's unit or the physician's office nurse if the physician is not available.
4.Procedures:

Provides appropriate patient care during the correct performance of radiologic procedures.

Performs appropriate patient care conditions essential for the completion of the procedure for patients of all ages.

Performs radiologic procedures on patients of all ages properly, according to the Radiology Procedure Manual standard of obtaining diagnostic images.

Safely transports wheelchair, stretcher and ambulatory patients as needed.

Documents technical factors on all procedures immediately upon completion of the procedure.

Performs venipuncture under the supervision of a physician on patients of all ages.

Performs clerical tasks to support the patient plan of care.

Assist the Radiologist within the radiographers scope of practice as directed by the physician.
5.Education:

Provides education for students, patients, self and others appropriate for the age that is being served.

Provides clinical supervision for student Radiographers.

Participates in student clinical competency evaluation by completing :

b) Weekly student evaluations.

c) Evaluates student clinical competency by observing student clinical performance and documenting their competence.

Pursues educational self development in order to maintain ARRT certification.

Maintains Arkansas State licensure.

Completes mandatory in-services.

Maintains CPR certification according to Health Care Provider course standards by the American Heart Association.

Attends school faculty meetings or monthly department meetings.

Participates in continuous quality improvements activities. (CQI)
6.Environment:

Maintains a safe environment for patients, self and others.

Ensure that all radiation safety standards are met for all age groups.

Documents patient pregnancy statements.

a) Notifies attending physician immediately if patient is pregnant or suspects pregnancy before performing the procedure.

Modifies the procedure for pregnant patients as directed by physician using the Radiology Safety Manual Guidelines to include the use of:

a) lead shielding.

b) performing different or fewer images that still support the patient plan of care.

Avoid any mechanical, biological, radiation or electrical hazard and report potential hazards immediately.

a) Minimizes patient radiation exposure by proper performance and avoiding repeat radiographs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Perform all duties of Pharmacy Technician Trainee: a. Perform in accordance with established policies and procedures all packaging and other duties related to the preparation of medication for distribution to inpatients, subject to pharmacist check. b. "Pick" or otherwise assemble doses of medication for distribution to inpatients, subject to pharmacist check, using computer-generated fill list or strip. c. Restock supplies in IV room, assemble ingredients, organize workflow, maintain files; deliver completed IV admixtures. d. Maintain all records and documents relating to controlled drug distribution and usage; conduct audits of all controlled substance storage areas as deemed necessary by Director. e. Replenish, maintain records, and deliver drug supply carts to special care areas. f. Restock, process charge vouchers, and assure current dating of all drug supplies contained in crash cart drug trays and emergency drug boxes. g. Prepare floor stock and satellite orders, subject to pharmacist check. h. Restock unit-dose medications; remove outdated products. i. Fill medications from strips printed by the computer. j. Deliver and exchange medication bins to patient room. k. Credit all medications and return to stock. l. Transfer medications and return to stock. m. Pull medications from all discharged patient bins and issue proper credit. n. Print identification for medication bins. 2. Dispense, receive, and reconcile substances daily with Anesthesiology department. 3. Review Anesthesiology records daily to extract all Pharmacy charges. 4. Restock cassettes for ophthalmology surgery and for cardiac surgery. 5. Perform monthly nursing station inspections. 6. Enter data into computer in order to reprint IV labels; process credit, record waste, and determine current status of specific IV orders. 7. Perform computer functions involving credits/charge in inpatient system. 8. Perform duties required in processing discharged/transferred patients' medications and records. 9. Prepare name cards for patient medication bins. 10. File NCR copy of physicians' orders and other documents. 11. Communicate with nursing and other personnel regarding distribution of medication; answer phone, refer calls, take messages, etc. 12. Assist in training new personnel in duties related to area of specialty. 13. Perform other related duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: High school diploma, GED, Metropolitan Test, or equivalent. Must have current AR Pharmacy Technician License or a current AR Pharmacy Intern License. Experience: Previous hospital pharmacy experience preferred.
