Description

The Radiographer-Interventional reflects the mission, vision, and values of Northwestern Memorial adheres to the organization's Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards. Provides imaging services to assist in the diagnosis or treatment of inpatients and or outpatients.

Performs radiographic and related procedures to demonstrate vascular structures for interpretation and or therapeutic interventional by or at the request of a license practitioner. Exercise professional judgment in performance of services and maintains a demeanor complimentary to medical ethics. Provides appropriate patient care and recognizes patient's conditions essential for successful completion of the procedures.

Services are provided in accordance with industry standards, department protocols, and hospital policies and procedures. Performs interventional imaging procedures.

Qualifications

Required: Current Illinois licensed

  • Current ARRT registry in radiography

  • Current AHA BLS Provider Certification

  • Graduation from an accredited radiography program with 1 year Interventional Imaging experience. Desired: - Advanced certification in Vascular Interventional Radiology.

  • Graduation from an accredited radiography program Associate's Degree, Bachelor's Degree

  • 3 or more years Interventional Imaging experience.

Responsibilities: * Prepares and positions patients for imaging and selects exposure factors accurately. * Prepares and administers contrast media and medications within the accepted scope of practice and applicable state and federal regulations. * Observes patient during procedure and reports abnormal activity. Monitors protocols and recommends updates or refinements as warranted. * Follows radiation safety procedures and guidelines. Prevents patient from being exposed to unnecessary radiation. * Ensures prompt submission of high-quality of all images and documents sent to PACS (image quality, correct lead markers and patient data/history). * Ensures equipment is properly functioning. Reports potential problems or equipment malfunction to appropriate personnel. Lock/tag out equipment if appropriate. * Assists in maintaining a clean, and orderly department to include procedure rooms, storage areas, dressing rooms, film storage area and any other areas in department. * Positions patients and selects anatomic and technical parameters accurately. What You Will Need Licenses/Certifications/Registration: * Required Credential(s): * BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. * One or more of the following: * Cardiographic Tech credentialed from the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. * Limited Radiology Technician credentialed from the Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. * Radiologic Technologist specializing in Radiography credentialed from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. Any specialty accepted for Radiologic Technologist issued by ARRT. Radiology Tech licensure issued by the IL Emergency Mgmt Agency required in combination with Radiologic Tech registration through American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
