Fort Walton Beach Medical Center, located on Florida's Emerald Coast, is looking for an additional member to add to its award winning imaging team.

  • Associate Degree or equivalent in Radiological Technology required


  • ARRT registry required (new grads must obtain prior to renewal of Florida licensure)

  • State of Florida license required

  • BLS AHA Healthcare Provider required upon hire


  • Comprehensive knowledge of anatomy, positioning, radiographic techniques, and radiation protection concepts and techniques to include, fluoro, OR, trauma, pediatrics and routine exams

  • Knowledge of contrast administration and contraindications

  • Knowledge of radiographic physics, knowledge of medical terminology

POSITION SUMMARY: Under general supervision operates MRI equipment, positions patient to produce diagnostic images in a safe manner and performs related duties. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Operates MRI equipment to make images scans of designated portions of the body. Adjusts equipment and patient to correct positions for each examination. Instructs and explains procedures to patients. Selects proper technical factors, on an individual patient basis. Performs reconstruction and special processing of data. Properly completes and reviews MRI safety screening forms for patients and/or visitors. Records and maintains exam information in MRI log. Arrange, attach or adjusts immobilization and supportive devices to obtain precise position, prevent motion and aid in patient comfort. Practices sterile techniques and prevents cross contamination. Maintains orderliness and cleanliness, including provision for the contamination free condition of room, equipment and personnel. Performs QC functions as required. Properly documents all medications used in the EMAR. Receives verbal orders for examinations from a licensed practitioner in keeping with the state license. Demonstrates Customer Services principles and behaviors appropriately. Actively seeks ways to control costs without compromising patient safety, quality of care or the services delivered. Demonstrates knowledge of the occurrence reporting system. Uses system to report potential patient safety issues. Follows established guidelines for reporting a significant medical error or unanticipated outcome in the patient's care which results in patient harm. Reviews current developments in trends and techniques of MRI, including MRI safety, by completing TipTV education, reading technical journals, participating in in-service education programs, attending conferences, etc. on an annual basis. Attends in-service presentations and completes all mandatory education requirements on or before the due date. Uses Performance Improvement Plan to improve patient safety. Regular, punctual and dependable attendance. EDUCATIONREQUIRED AND/OR PREFERRED: * Associate Degree or equivalent in Radiological Technology required LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: * ARRT registry required * MR registry required within 12 months of hire * BCLS–AHA Healthcare Provider certification required upon hire EXPERIENCEREQUIRED OR PREFERRED: * Knowledge of cross sectional anatomy and MRI concepts to include head, body, MSK, spine and MRA imaging.
