The Materials Supervisor (RHP4) leads the Radioactive Materials Licensing and Compliance (Materials) Section within the Office of Radiation Protection (ORP). You will have the opportunity to manage a team of skilled professionals and administrative staff, driving the section's success. The Materials Section is essential in protecting Washington State's residents, property, and environment by licensing, registering, investigating, and conducting compliance inspections for all radioactive materials licensees.

The duty station for this Radiation Health Physicist 4 (RHP4) is in Tumwater, WA. Telework (mobile work) is currently partial telecommuting (mobile work) is expected. We anticipate the incumbent will work at the Tumwater office 2-4 days per month.

Required Qualifications
Experience defined below may have been gained through paid or unpaid activities. Please ensure any relevant experience defined below is outlined in your cover letter, resume, and/or applicant profile to support your selections in the supplemental portion of the application. Experience may have been gained concurrently.
Option 1: Six (6) years of professional experience in an official radiation control program or similar large-scale radiation program that includes experience in radiation safety, radiation fundamentals, radiation measurements, understanding of as low as reasonably achievable (ALARA) principles, and dosimetry.
Option 2: A Bachelor of Science degree in physical science, engineering, or biological science AND Two (2) years of professional experience in an official radiation control program or similar large-scale radiation program that includes experience in radiation safety, radiation fundamentals, radiation measurements, understanding of as low as reasonably achievable (ALARA) principles, and dosimetry.
AND for both options:
NOTE: An official radiation control program is a radiation control program that is large enough to devote full-time staff to the review and control of the use of radiation with the intent of limiting and reducing human exposure to radiation.
