Ies with the Honolulu Police Department (HPD) is responsible for the installation, repair adjustment and preventative maintenance of communications and electronic equipment; works with high voltage radio circuits, commercial and/or emergency AC power circuits, and automotive electrical system short circuits during mobile installations; performs standby duties and works rotational shifts as required; travel to attend seminars, conferences, and training as required; and other related duties. Work may involve potential hazardous driving conditions during night trouble calls on mountain roads leading to remote repeater station sites; exposure to radio frequency radiation; etc.

There are two vacancies with the Honolulu Police Department, Telecommunications Systems Section. Minimum Qualification Requirements:
Equivalent to graduation from high school and successful completion of a two-year program in electronics technology from an accredited community college or technical school.
Verification Requirement: Proof of completion of a two-year program in electronics technology from an accredited community college or technical school must be submitted in order to be given credit.
A reproduced copy of your official transcript with the embossed seal or a copy of your diploma must be submitted in order to be given credit. Copies will not be returned. Unofficial transcripts will not be accepted.

Three (3) years of technical work experience involving the installation, maintenance, repair, and modification of radio communications or related equipment.
Possession of a valid driver's license (Type 3), prior to appointment.
Desirable: Possession of a valid Federal Communications Commission General Radiotelephone Operator License is desirable.
