The role of the Wireless Performance Test Engineer is to validate that in-house and third-party 4G/5G RAN (Radio Access Networks) systems interoperate and perform to high quality standards. This position is in the RAN Systems division. The work location is in Richardson and could involve working with test and development engineers across sites. It offers the opportunity to contribute to advanced wireless technology in a fast-paced environment.
Ensure 4G/5G wireless base transceiver stations meet established performance quality standards.
Establish detailed, measurable, quantified metrics and other criteria corresponding to product requirements and specifications.
Develop and execute test plans, test cases, and test setups to verify and validate that products meet performance goals.
Evaluate the performance of the Device-Under-Test (DUT) that includes subsystems with RF, Layer 1, Layer 2 and Layer 3 functionality to cover link quality, connectivity, reliability, throughput and protocols using baseband, signalling and RF test instruments with appropriate automation.
A strong background in wireless communications, Layer 1/PHY, protocols and be well-versed with RF test instruments.
Have a good understanding of 3G/4G/5G wireless technology, RF and networking.
Possess insights into Layer1/PHY/protocol performance issues and the ability to isolate and pinpoint sources of problems.
Hands-on problem solver, and be able to propose processes, methodologies and procedures to continuously improve quality.
Ability to program and develop scripts for automating tests will be helpful.
Should be able to put together and operate test setups with DUTs, signal generators, analyzers, signaling testers, power meters, channel emulators, scopes, network analyzers and other accessories.
Ability to collaborate with developers and those involved in interoperability, system, conformance, certification and field tests.
Should be able to execute with minimal supervision.
Requires a BSEE or equivalent and 5+ years of wireless industry experience.
