A quick summary about the role:

Radio Graduate Associate provides hands-on, behind-the-scenes experience with an NBA Radio Broadcast. Learn the inner workings of Radio while honing your writing, interviewing and production skills. This internship is mostly production based, but may include on-air opportunities.

What the Radio GA will be responsible for:

Radio Duties:

  • Assist the Radio Producer with all Magic radio broadcasts, providing production support as assigned.

  • Responsible for attending shoot around to gather sound for Magic Drive Time and pregame show from Magic players and/or visiting team.

  • Record, edit, and log highlights during each road game from the Radio Studio.

  • Fill-in as Magic locker room reporter when needed.

  • Assist Radio Producer with writing and producing radio commercials for in-house promotions, external clients, and all other stakeholders as assigned.

  • Archive and log sound bites, game broadcasts, and Magic ancillary shows for future productions and maintain organizations of audio suite and audio library.

  • Work with Radio Manager and Radio Producer to create, produce, and distribute content for orlandomagic.com and Magic Radio Podcasts.

  • Update and provide content for Magic radio social network sites. (Facebook/Twitter).

  • All other duties as assigned.

Possible TV Duties:

  • Work with Sr. TV and Radio Producer on any assignments needed to support TV Broadcast.

  • Pull footage from tape library.

  • All other duties as assigned.

What the GA needs to have:

  • Post Grad (recent college graduates within 24 months of graduation) or graduate-level college students required.

  • 1-2 years of marketing or sports management experience preferred.

  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office products and other related computer skills required.

  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and work well under pressure.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with an emphasis on business writing skills.

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks/projects and support multiple positions.

  • Ability to work independently without supervision, be self-directed and demonstrate initiative.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with others for whom you have no direct supervisory authority.

  • Strong teamwork and team synergy skills required.

  • Excellent ability to establish rapport with others and ability to build strong interpersonal relationships.

  • Exhibit good judgment and decision-making skills.

  • Ability to be creative.

  • Willingness to work long and irregular hours with a flexible schedule based on the changing priorities of the department.

Relocation Information:

  • Relocation and housing expenses are the responsibility of the Graduate Associate (Please note that while we have a hybrid work model, this does require you to live and work out of the Orlando, Florida area.)
  • Reliable transportation is also needed

Working Hours:

  • Office Hours - M-F, 9:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.

  • Based on role determines in office and remote working by the manager

  • Most Associates work all game nights (44 home games + playoffs and finals) including weekends and holidays
