Monday, Tuesday, & Wednesday 8am - 4:30pm
Position Purpose
Radiation therapists operate machines, such as linear accelerators, to deliver concentrated radiation therapy to the region of a patient's tumor. Radiation treatment may shrink or eliminate cancers and tumors. Radiation therapists are part of the oncology teams that treat patients with cancer.
What you will do:
established procedures prior to daily use. Reports any deviation to the physicist.
Inspects ancillary devices prior to use. Reports any problems to appropriate person.
Verifies functioning of the radiation detectors.
Checks blocks for proper orientation and accuracy before filming.
Performs weekly QA on simulator and treatment equipment following established procedures.
Assists in maintenance of the dark room. Report any problems to the appropriate person for
corrections.
Performs microdosimetry within the first three treatments. Verifies calculation and
agreement prior to fourth treatment.
Minimum Qualifications:
Knowledge of principles, techniques and methodology of radiation therapy is required.
Behavior and personality conducive to working with cancer patients is necessary.
Current State of Florida License as a Certified Radiology Technologist (CRT)
ARRT (T) or eligible
