The Division of Institutional Planning & Operations (IP&O) employs a workforce of approximately 2,700 staff, represented by 15 collective negotiations agreements, and is responsible for institutional strategic initiatives and operations, which encompasses an expansive range of comprehensive service and business operations across the State of New Jersey. These include planning and construction, facilities, public safety and emergency operations, environmental health and safety, transportation, housing, and auxiliary/retail operations.
Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Radiation Safety Technologist for the Division of Institutional Planning & Operations (IP&O).
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Under the broad technical and administrative supervisor of the Radiation Safety Officer, conducts a wide variety of health physics services, including performing routine audits of radioactive material laboratories, calibration of laboratory analytical equipment and GM counter, package integrity tests, bioassays, and decommissioning of laboratories.
Assists with determining compliance with NRC and NJDEP regulations, as well as policies and procedures established by the Rutgers Radiation Safety Committee.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in physics, chemistry, other physical science, or a closely related field.
Additional related experience may be substituted for the degree on a year-for-year basis when coupled with a high school diploma.
Certifications/Licenses Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Experience in handling and analysis of radioactive materials is desired;
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
Strong organizational, interpersonal, and analytical skills are required.
Must be computer literate with proficiency and working knowledge of software such as Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications Equipment Utilized Physical Demands and Work Environment
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Standing, sitting, walking, talking or hearing. No special vision requirements. Ability to lift or exert force up to 25 lbs.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Office environment. Moderate Noise.
