The Radiation Oncology Manager is responsible primarily for radiation oncology services performed at Kaweah Health. Supports the Director with all of the essential management responsibilities to operate the department efficiently and responsibly including working with providers and marketing to sustain and grow services.

QUALIFICATIONS

License /Certification Required:

Certified Radiation Oncology Therapist (CRT) (R)

BLS

Kaweah Health approved crisis intervention training within 60 days of hire/transfer.

Education

Preferred: Bachelor's degree

Experience

Minimum: 2 years Management experience

Required: 3-5 years as Radiation Therapist

Preferred: Three years management experience in hospital/outpatient environment

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential

Supervises, trains, counsels, guides, and evaluates assigned staff. Hires qualified, competent staff members for vacant positions utilizing team interview process.

Personnel responsibilities include but are not limited to: hiring, termination, disciplinary action, evaluations, and counseling, following HR policies. Reviews and consults with director on all disciplinary issues.

Consults with director and radiation oncology teams to maintain scheduling of patients to acceptable time frames. Assures work flow in the department is efficient while centered on patient care.

Maintains positive morale within department while supporting Kaweah Health initiatives.

Prepares and monitors department budget and maintains productivity within approved guidelines. Assures that courtesy and expedience are an integral part of all services.

Assures department compliance in all areas with CMS, state, local, and Joint Commission requirements.

Assures that all equipment is in proper working condition. Escalates issues to vendor specific service manager and director as necessary.

Becomes familiar with radiation oncology and Kaweah Health computers and systems.

Maintains good communication and rapport with other departments and medical staff. Responsible for all assigned business

Establishes and formulates policies and procedures as necessary.

Utilizes chain of command regarding information or issues within the department, keeping director updated regarding issues that can affect department performance, safety, patients and physicians.

Reports all work-related injuries/illnesses to Employee Health. Staff should be assigned to light duty following these incidents whenever can be accommodated.

Determines the qualifications and competence level for department staff. Makes recommendations regarding staffing levels and is supportive of decisions.

Continually assesses and improves department performance.

May serve as Director Designee when appropriate. Supports and works with managers within imaging & radiation oncology services.

Creates and maintains policies, procedures and protocols as required. In-services staff when changes occur.

Additional

Actively involved with Kaweah Health marketing team to consistently review and market services to the community and referring physicians.

May serve as ambassador with area chamber of commerce organizations to help create awareness of services provided.

Maintains par levels of inventory in areas of responsibility. Evaluates expense and works to reduce waste and assess less expensive products as necessary.

Enhances professional growth and maintains awareness of current industry trends, legislation or research, which could impact department and Kaweah Health.

Provides orientation, in-services and continuing education for staff.

Regularly meets with teams on an ongoing basis.

Is accountable for patient and employee satisfaction, owning areas of responsibility.

Responsible for staff scheduling, timecard maintenance, time off, and holidays, as well as any after-hours emergencies as they may arise.

Sees that appropriate issues are taken to the proper resource: Director, Employee Health; Compliance; Risk Management; Human Resources.

Assists Director with annual capital equipment and operational budget. Contributes to developing strategy for hardware and software needs within Radiation Oncology, and assists in equipment evaluation.

Responsible for meeting operational budget expenses for all expense lines including salary and supply expenses. Works to stay within 3% of budget in all areas.

Effectively manages staff hours and assures staff are docking when necessary and clocking in and out appropriately. Oversees department supply needs and assists physicians and staff in seeing they have proper equipment and supplies to perform their duties.

Serves as a role model for employees in attitude, positive actions and reliability. Assures that courtesy, patient and employee experiences are an integral part of our services. Represents Kaweah Health positively with appropriate speech and attitude.

Seeks out education and support as needed to assure growth in areas of oversight. Spends time in each area and rounds routinely with staff and physicians.

On occasion, may provide assistance or coverage as a Radiation Therapist if necessary and as licensure allows.

Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and services appropriate to the population served on the assigned unit or work area. Knowledgeable of growth and development for all patient/family cultural, linguistic, spiritual, gender, and age specific needs. Able to effectively communicate and care for patient and family as reflected in the Plan for Provision of Care.

Pay Range

$59.92 -$89.88
