The US Finance Technology Group (FTG), which is part of Corporate Technology Services (CTS), supports the Finance department.
FTG is seeking an experienced Developer, to join a new dedicated team focus fast delivery of small End User applications/Features. They will be working very closely with end users focused on transformation initiatives on the RAD team.
The successful candidate shall be able to quickly learn the relevant systems in place at Nomura and shall participate in multiple projects running concurrently.
Responsibilities shall include:
Building small applications, using SQL, Python, Alteryx, PowerBI and other new age software platforms.
The candidate must be able to work independently , speaking directly with users to understand problem statement, propose solutions, perform analysis and write functional and technical specifications
Locating data sources and data elements required for business process automation
Preparing technical data mapping documents from source files/tables to target
Drafting test cases for unit testing as well as integration testing and UAT
Being accountable for successful system delivery, Interact efficiently with RTB Developers and/or CTB Developers globally in software/fix delivery.
5+ years of relevant work experience in Finance IT projects
Prior experience with at least two of these 4 core skills SQL, Python, Alteryx, PowerBI
Strong deductive reasoning, The candidate must be able interpret conversations with SME's and be in a position to ask questions about one's business process, that will allow him/her to map out current state and look for opportunities to automate, simplify (either through direct software tool usage or re-mapping of process). This is where a candidate shows that they can analyze the results of data investigation, interpret the results and convert to information for further presentation.
Strong understanding of SDLC best practices; experience with Agile methodologies
Experience writing BRDs, FSDs and technical specifications
Strong Excel skills for data analysis and reconciliation
Experienced in writing SQL queries for data inspection and analysis (Oracle preferred)
Previous experience working with a global team
The ability to critically analyze existing processes, make recommendations and work towards implementing improvements by answering a business question or business problem with a data solution
Experience using REST APIs
In-depth technical knowledge of Oracle PL/SQL.
Strong Knowledge of domestic and international Equity and Fixed Income products and Derivatives and Secured Financing transactions
Understanding of trade lifecycle and relationship to accounting events
Knowledge of Finance and Accounting, US GAAP for broker dealers, familiarity with financial statements and processes including balance sheet presentation and P&L reconciliation and reporting is a plus
Experience with accounting rules engines, including business event recognition, journal patterns, and automated journal creation in a plus
Knowledge of XML
Strong communicator who is able to manage relationships across all levels and teams within the business
Able to work independently with minimal guidance under aggressive deadlines
Bias towards action
Candidate should be an advocate for the uptake of new technologies, processes and systems across the business
