Job Description

As a Server-Side Developer within our Trading Technology team at Refinitiv, you will tackle a broad range of problems focused around automated trading algorithms, dependable high throughput and low latency communication, market data, and order management. You will work with developers and architects on building performance-critical, scalable, and resilient trading applications within the REDI product.

Major REDI systems under active development include:

  • Core Execution Management System

  • Algorithmic trading

  • Stream based platform

  • Automated Testing for above systems

Successful server-side developers take ownership of the products that we ship and as such are expected to work with Product Management to develop business requirements, come up with high-level designs and architectures, evaluate build vs buy options, work with QA, and deliver and maintain the product in production.


  • BS/MS in Computer Science/Computer Engineering or equivalent work experience

  • 2+ years of Java Software Development experience in the Financial Services Industry

  • Object oriented design and understanding when to use design patterns

  • Ability to write clean, testable code, and experience with unit testing and mocking

  • Comfortable with Linux command line interface

  • Understands SQL

  • Can work with a VCS system, specifically git

Extremely nice to have:

  • Financial sector experience (prefer Trading)

Nice to haves:

  • Understanding of RESTful web service design and implementation

  • Familiar with Continuous Integration

  • TCP/IP and UDP socket level coding experience

  • Strong documentation and presentation skills

  • Linux power user

Ideally, you'd work out of our Houston, Denver, Chicago, or New York City offices. As a Senior Trading Team Software Engineer (TTSE), you will be part of a team consisting of Quants, Traders and other TTSEs, which focuses on optimizing all aspects Quantlab's research and trading in a given set of markets. TTSEs should feel comfortable leveraging a variety of tools and technologies to get the job done; whether it's developing new features for our low latency trading platforms in C++ or combing through large datasets in Python. TTSEs have the unique opportunity to be on the front-lines of our business, learn a lot and apply their passion for technology, trading, quantitative finance, or all of the above, in a meaningful way. What you'll do: * Assist dedicated Quants with strategy implementation and infrastructure optimization * Recommend and make available additional data sources, transformations and order placement features for strategy development * Thoroughly study exchange data to ensure internal data transformations appropriately represent market behaviors to our models * Monitor and drive improvement to execution quality metrics * Develop deep microstructure expertise in several markets * Plan and follow through with infrastructure changes by working with relevant internal and external parties What you'll have: * You enjoy facing a diverse and dynamic problem space * You have lots of experience writing low latency, high throughput systems in C++. Hands on experience, either professionally or personally, with modern C++ is required * You thoroughly enjoy analyzing large datasets using ubiquitous data science tooling (i.e. Python, R).
