Job Description

International Financing Review, a leader in in-depth coverage of the capital markets, is looking for a senior database analyst to help break news and provide data for trading platforms. The role will have an immediate impact on our information/trading platforms. The candidate will also help our analysts and journalists to identify trends and patterns in the primary market using data that will help short stories and statistical analysis.

The job requires the analyst to utilize our unique credit markets data and market community relationships to produce useful data and statistics, insightful analysis and forward-looking market commentary, which will be distributed across our platforms. The analyst will also help manage and prioritize data acquisition efforts to support our product and analytical needs and address client requests.

The job requires an understanding of US financial markets, with a focus on debt markets.

The analyst will be able to interpret and derive critical insights from qualitative and quantitative research in order to deliver value-added content to our customers. They will be comfortable and adept at discussing market trends with market participants in order to gain color for our analysis and assist in driving new sales and product usage.

Maintain relationships with credit market syndicate desks, focusing on primary market activities with corporate and structured finance offerings. Work on streamlining data collection processes, as well as data presentation and delivery. Coordinate with other Refinitiv internal clients on product enhancements and product requirements. Insure IFR data is utilized and its value maximized for internal and external clients. Drive data team to help break news and provide data for various Refinitiv platforms.

Job Requirements

  • Create and maintain excel databases of primary bond market data

  • Responsible for timely inputting and accuracy of global new issue fixed income data into multiple platforms

  • Coordinate with other units of Refinitiv to help ensure accuracy of data

  • New product development and statistical analysis

  • Compile historical data to identify trends in the market

  • Regularly create and publish required analysis and commentary, as well as surveys and ad hoc reports, for the US credit markets

  • Work with our strategy, sales, product and content teams to identify, prioritize and capitalize upon new sales and business development opportunities.

  • Support and build strong relationships with clients in order to collect data and gather analysis from them, and to ensure that we proactively understand market trends and that we are meeting their needs with our offerings.

  • Strong analytical capabilities are a priority. This includes demonstrable expertise with Excel/Access, excellent written communication skills and an organized approach to projects and communications

  • Excellent networking skills and initiative are critical. The ideal candidate will have an existing network of contacts on the buy side and sell side in the America's credit markets.

  • Guide and support data analysts to source critical data, including prioritization of markets and sources, evaluating data quality and facilitate development of new market relationships

  • Work across various product silos to distribute data and develop products for clients through these silos


  • At least three-years of experience covering financial markets

  • Knowledge and ability to work in small teams

  • Any fixed-income experience is great, not required


  • Good excel knowledge, formula-writing A+

  • Proficient in Microsoft office (word, powerpoint)

  • Ability to clearly communicate responses to customer queries and data requests.

  • Customer relationship management (CRM) A+, not required

  • HTML and JAVA knowledge A+, not required

The role requires the calculation and verification of relative value analysis and authoring of well-structured, authoritative, daily reports demonstrating the engagement of IGM with the industry our products and services address. In this role you will: * Work with product managers and colleagues to define ideal coverage mix based on user workflow needs. * Outreach to practitioners to support analysis of major Investment Grade and High Yield deals via publication of intra-day reports, in particular Open, Midday and Close * Analysis of new deal performance incl. investigative, focused interviewing of contacts to assess performance, funding decisions, structure, trends and context * Gathering timely and accurate market talk on rumoured bond issuance, including up-to-date price discovery and relative value (NICs, Books, Distribution) * Intel gathering toward publication and maintenance of industry leading pipeline tables * Various summary reporting by sector * Maintain and develop market contacts as necessary to provide first class output and to raise IGM's profile in the marketplace * Cover for colleagues as part of the New York-based credit team * Participate fully in product development to ensure content always reflects market evolution and customer needs.
