The Quoting Specialist will work collaboratively with a team to develop technical proposals, costing, and quoting of new and existing parts. The incumbent will also work closely with New Product Introduction teams and Supply Chain.

Reports to: Supply Chain Manager

Location: Branford, CT

Grade: 5

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop quotes for existing and new products

  • Estimate cost for material, labor, equipment, and tooling

  • Obtain quotes from material and special processes

  • Prepare cost data for quotes

  • Establish and Maintain expert level of product knowledge and application

  • Prepare formal proposals in support of new business attainment.

  • Directly communicate with customers in the form of quotations, meetings, and presentations to understand and define their needs

  • Manage several projects at one time while adhering to proposal due dates

  • Participate in training as required

  • Define and document requirements, address technical concerns, and provide project status update

  • Navigate customer portals

  • Demonstrate proficiency in MS Excel and MS Word packages

  • Interpret and work from engineering data to include drawings, specifications, and models

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen, permanent resident alien, or otherwise able to review all export controlled technical information.

Education & Experience

  • Quoting/Buying for at least 2 years

  • Minimum of an AS degree, BS / BA preferred.

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience

  • 5+ years in Aerospace industry a plus.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must be customer oriented

  • Excellent communication skills, both written, and verbal

  • Project management experience

  • Background in material selection and application, (ferrous and non-ferrous metals, plastics, insulators, potting compounds) a plus

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Some light physical effort required.

  • Must be able to push, pull, and lift at least 15 lbs.

  • Sitting, standing, reaching, bending, and moving.

  • Manufacturing environment.

The Specialist will assist in day to day functions and special projects that assist in continuous improvement initiatives. Serve as the champion for Inventory Management i.e. SOP updates, process development, and system integration Create and implement an Inventory Program to improve tracking and reporting functionality across all company locations Work closely with the Engineering Department in the development of new products including the sourcing of suppliers, obtaining samples, and quotes Drive regulatory improvement in Purchase Price Variance (PPV) through RFQ's, auctions, and negotiations with suppliers Work collectively with other team members to negotiate terms and conditions for long term contracts and suppliers. Analyze data and trends to identify projects to yield greater efficiencies and a higher ROI (Return on Investment). Adjusts inventories as needed to minimize purchasing costs Work cooperatively with the team to ensure documentation meets both federal and state regulatory requirements. Development of off-shore sources of supply as needed Assist with buyer/planner tasks as needed Serve as the primary point of contact with customer, regulatory, or certifying audit authorities Spearhead efforts to identify and implement cost reduction opportunities Manage and drive KPI's (Key Performance Indicators) Demonstrate proficiency with MS Software packages including but not limited to Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. Ensure departmental compliance to all quality / operating policies, procedures and standards Maintain the supplier base Participate in training as required. Must be a "US Person" as defined by US Govt. and able to work without restriction with ITAR related data Able to travel domestic and international up to 25% Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in any related discipline required. At least 5 – 10 years' experience in international purchasing and/or procurement experience preferred Experience identifying and sourcing materials based on blueprints and other technical documents. Experience utilizing ERP software – Visual a plus Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Thorough knowledge of contract negotiation, project management, purchasing and supply chain management. Must have good computer skills including ability to work within MRP systems. Excellent verbal, written, communication skills Ability to set priorities to meet internal & external customer demands. Must be highly organized, a self-starter and able to work independently. Must be able to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously. Physical Demands: Regularly required to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift, push, or pull up to 20 lbs. Work Environment: Work in an office and manufacturing environment.
