In the Quote Loading Engineer position you analyze customer provided documentation for material costing, electrical engineering, plastic injection molding, metals manufacturing, mechanical engineering, test engineering, packaging, and final assembly. Prepares documentation in KTC quote system format for dissemination to appropriate personnel. Develops, improves, and maintains quoting process to meet KTC's business objectives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.)

  • Reviews RFQ template and prepares and enters quote data into quote system

  • Required to manipulate and create BOMs based on customer engineering documentation.

  • Identifies any missing customer information required to enter data and properly kick off a quote

  • Will analyze and interpret electrical engineering data such as Gerbers, Fab drawings, and Schematics to determine manufacturability of PCBA's.

  • Will analyze CAD and other drawings data to determine manufacturability of plastics and metals based on plant capabilities.

  • Required to assist in identifying make vs. buy components based on plant capabilities for plastic injection molding, metals manufacturing, cabling, and other items.

  • Required to analyze and interpret assembly drawings for manufacturability, consistency, and completeness.

  • Communicates when a quote is loaded and ready for kick off.

  • Performs quote data analysis as needed

  • Coordinates assigned quote activity with engineering, Quote Administrator and Coordinators, and materials quoting team to assure accurate and timely delivery.

  • Manages multiple quotes simultaneously, meeting expected timelines.

  • Required to add feedback to process flow for enhanced efficiency and continual process improvement.


  • Attend and initiate meetings as needed to support quoting activities.

  • Interfaces with customers as required.

  • Performs other duties, as assigned, to achieve corporate and departmental objectives



  • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or science discipline. One to two years of experience in an office environment.

  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, costs, and other techniques for maximizing cost reductions.

  • Strong ability to effectively manage timelines with experience in managing manufacturing quotes.

  • The ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.

  • The ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (includes finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events).

  • Extensive experience with Excel and other database programs with a strong knowledge of MRP systems.

  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

  • Demonstrated organizational skills, with the ability to handle and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously in a timely manner in a fast-paced environment.

  • Sound written and oral communication skills; must be able to write and understand routine reports, follow oral and written instructions, and speak effectively.

  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to relate to and work with diverse groups of people. Fluent in English language

  • Must have knowledge of use and operation of standard office equipment and be familiar with commonly used email, Internet, word processing, databases and spreadsheets.

  • Must have a high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and materials. Position continually requires demonstrated poise, tact and diplomacy.

  • Knowledge of BOMS, assembly drawings, gerbers, and other engineering documents.


  • Two to four years direct experience with managing quotes, BOMs, and working with a cross functional team and ability to coordinator NPI's and materials issues.

  • Experience in Contract Manufacturing and EMS industry desired with an emphasis in supporting an offshore manufacturing facility.

  • Ability to speak Spanish

  • Knowledge of and experience with plastic injection molding, metals manufacturing, mechanical engineering, and electrical engineering. Ability to identify make vs. components based on plant capabilities.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS The employee is regularly required to sit; use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, talk, hear, and see. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or reach with hands and arms. The environment is fast-paced; time pressured, and requires accuracy. The employee will regularly multi-task between projects, be required to move throughout the office building, and effectively communicate. The normal environment is quiet and typical of an open cubical setting with some areas that may be louder at times.
