Quarterly Adjunct Lecturer: LEAD Scholars Program

Salary Range:

$4,516.5 per 2-unit course per term. Teaching both the fall and winter course will be a total of $9,033.

Purpose:

The LEAD Scholars Program at Santa Clara University, a Jesuit Catholic university, is receiving applications to teach one lower-division 2-unit seminar course entitled: LEAD Seminar during fall 2024 and winter 2025.

The LEAD Scholars Program supports first-generation college students at Santa Clara University. LEAD Seminar introduces for new first-year students to Santa Clara University campus life, academic expectations, resources and leadership opportunities.

These courses are scheduled to be taught on:

LEAD 1 & 2 | T 2:00 - 3:40

LEAD 1 & 2 | R 2:00 - 3:40

LEAD 1 & 2 | T 3:50 - 5:30

LEAD 1 & 2 | R 3:50 - 5:30

LEAD 1 & 2 | R 10:20-12:00

LEAD 1 & 2 | R 10:20 - 12:00

Basic Qualifications: Master's degree required in non-profit administration, counseling, higher education or a related field. Applicants should also be familiar with the Santa Clara University campus and should have experience working with underrepresented students including first-generation college students, students of color and low-income students.

Responsibilities: Faculty responsibilities are specified by the Santa Clara University Faculty Handbook (sec. 3.6). Duties are included but not limited to:

Teaching one lecture section of LEAD 1 during fall quarter 2024 and one lecture section of LEAD 2 during winter 2025

Fulfilling all responsibilities associated with the assigned course, including

  • Conducting all assigned class meetings and individual conferences with students

  • Implementing a syllabus designed by the LEAD Scholars Program

  • Assigning and evaluating student work including exams and written assignments

  • Holding weekly office hours

  • Meeting regularly and collaborating with a student peer educator

  • Submitting student grades to the Office of the Registrar by the designated deadline

  • Administering numerical and narrative course evaluations to each class as assigned by the chair

  • Fulfilling other instructional or academic duties as may be assigned by the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, or the Program Director

  • Instructor is also expected to teach the second course in the sequence, LEAD 2 in winter 2025 on the same day and time
