AIR's vision is that research-based problem solving can improve the lives of all people. We are currently looking for an Education Researcher with strong quantitative analysis experience.

The Researcher will work on multiple projects with a focus on studying the effectiveness of education programs, practices, and policies within the pre-kindergarten to postsecondary educational system. Candidates are expected to understand AIR's organizational objectives and mission and achieve those objectives through their advanced level of technical work and content expertise. The Researcher will lead research project and analysis tasks to achieve project success.

Responsibilities

The Researcher will work on several projects with responsibilities including: Analyze, interpret, and report on complex quantitative data using appropriate statistical and/or psychometric methods (multiple linear regression, HLM, Structural Equation Modeling, IRT, and so on) Design data collection frameworks and/or data crosswalks Lead tasks and projects using rigorous designs such as randomized control trials, regression discontinuity, and quasi-experimental designs with tight controls Contribute substantively, thoughtfully, and creatively to the conceptualization and design of education research studies Write reports, briefs, proposals and other documents that are clear, concise, thoughtful and contribute substantively to the field Monitor, coordinate, and provide direction to assigned project staff; providing advice and guidance to staff in terms of appropriate research methods, analysis, and reporting Develop and manage daily relationships with clients to plan, implement, and present the results of the study while maintaining appropriate professional objectivity Provide assistance to clients for analytical or statistical expertise Manage client and stakeholder relationships in ways that are respectful and demonstrate knowledge of the field and policy landscape Demonstrate cultural competence and sensitivity in all interactions with colleagues, stakeholders, and study participants

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in education, economics, sociology, or other related field, or Master's degree with 5-7 years of relevant work experience Demonstrated knowledge of PK to postsecondary education preferred Able to apply advanced statistical methods and communicate effectively about these methods to technical and non-technical audiences. Knowledge of methodology used to collect, analyze, and report quantitative data Demonstrated proficiencies in writing, conceptualizing, analyzing, and consulting Strong organizational and interpersonal skills including strong communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to produce concise, high-level summaries and briefings Experience managing detailed projects and small teams preferred Highly proficient in STATA, R, or other statistical software preferred and open to learning new statistical tools as required by different projects *LI-AS1

This role will collaborate with multiple stakeholders to plan and conduct research that helps inform the service design strategy to drive change and improve the Home Services' customer experience. The researcher will own their projects from conception and execution to analysis and presentation. To be successful in this role, the researcher will need the ability to engage with customers, to moderate studies neutrally, and to communicate clear and actionable research findings. The researcher will need to effectively manage ambiguity, leading large groups of partners such as designers, product managers and business owners toward a common goal. The Home Services Customer Experience Researcher must be a self-starter, a problem solver and enjoy a challenge. Ideal candidates are storytellers, have the ability to give life to customer data with the required training and experience and have the ability to conduct rigorous research across retail channels. This candidate will need to be adept at field- and lab-based human studies and have worked in a research field with examples of projects that have benefited from their research. They are driven by innovation and championing actionable user insights. Major Tasks, Responsibilities & Key Accountabilities: * 60%-Creates research and usability strategy deliverables, including discovery findings, user journey maps, personas, and mind maps * 20%-Participates in Agile UX activities such as user story development * 10%-Communicates status of development design to supervisors and end users. * 10%-Provides expertise on UX design development to meet user needs in a timely and cost effective manner while ensuring the right things get done as per the governance process.
