AIR's vision is that research-based problem solving can improve the lives of all people. We are currently looking for an Education Researcher with strong quantitative analysis experience.

The Researcher will work on multiple projects with a focus on studying the effectiveness of education programs, practices, and policies within the pre-kindergarten to postsecondary educational system. Candidates are expected to understand AIR's organizational objectives and mission and achieve those objectives through their advanced level of technical work and content expertise. The Researcher will lead research project and analysis tasks to achieve project success.

Responsibilities

The Researcher will work on several projects with responsibilities including: Analyze, interpret, and report on complex quantitative data using appropriate statistical and/or psychometric methods (multiple linear regression, HLM, Structural Equation Modeling, IRT, and so on) Design data collection frameworks and/or data crosswalks Lead tasks and projects using rigorous designs such as randomized control trials, regression discontinuity, and quasi-experimental designs with tight controls Contribute substantively, thoughtfully, and creatively to the conceptualization and design of education research studies Write reports, briefs, proposals and other documents that are clear, concise, thoughtful and contribute substantively to the field Monitor, coordinate, and provide direction to assigned project staff; providing advice and guidance to staff in terms of appropriate research methods, analysis, and reporting Develop and manage daily relationships with clients to plan, implement, and present the results of the study while maintaining appropriate professional objectivity Provide assistance to clients for analytical or statistical expertise Manage client and stakeholder relationships in ways that are respectful and demonstrate knowledge of the field and policy landscape Demonstrate cultural competence and sensitivity in all interactions with colleagues, stakeholders, and study participants

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in education, economics, sociology, or other related field, or Master's degree with 5-7 years of relevant work experience Demonstrated knowledge of PK to postsecondary education preferred Able to apply advanced statistical methods and communicate effectively about these methods to technical and non-technical audiences. Knowledge of methodology used to collect, analyze, and report quantitative data Demonstrated proficiencies in writing, conceptualizing, analyzing, and consulting Strong organizational and interpersonal skills including strong communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to produce concise, high-level summaries and briefings Experience managing detailed projects and small teams preferred Highly proficient in STATA, R, or other statistical software preferred and open to learning new statistical tools as required by different projects *LI-AS1

This newly created position will report to the Director of Investments for PNC's Institutional Advisory & Retirement Solutions Groups and provide quantitative expertise and customized complex analytical reporting and training. Specifically this role will assist investment advisors in retaining and developing new institutional clients by providing advanced analytical reporting, expanding existing analytical reporting and provide training and development to maximize the value of the firm's analytical tools. Position will manage, coach and guide one analyst now and possibility more in the future. Requirements: * BA/BS in a financial, mathematical or analytical area. Job Description * Performs advanced quantitative analyses, such as Monte Carlo-based simulations and asset liability modeling studies, model development to support research, security analysis, portfolio management and/or asset allocation decision making. Makes specific portfolio positioning and trading recommendations. Manages a team of quantitative analysts. * Performs advanced quantitative analysis, which may include asset liability modeling studies, optimized asset allocation studies, capital markets assumption modeling and/or other quantitative applications, using models, screening tools and portfolio management systems. Oversees statistical analysis and model development to support decision-making by running statistical strategies and working with various asset classes. Monitors and reviews existing portfolio positions producing reports. Conducts on-going communication with portfolio managers and security analysts. * Designs and codes portfolio management models, tools and systems in order to perform qualitative and advanced quantitative assessments. May perform Monte Carlo simulations or asset allocation optimization. Evaluates identified model risks and reaches conclusions on strengths and limitations of various models. * Uses quantitative tools and techniques to measure and analyze portfolio positions and risks. Designs periodic model and tool testing. Prepares and analyzes detailed documents for validation and regulatory compliance.
