Overview
TradeSmith is hiring a Quantitative Analyst to add to our growing company. This person will work to create, explore, and enhance financial models and algorithms within the TradeSmith universe. This department is collecting extraordinary amounts of data and is looking for someone with an in-depth understanding of financial models and terms to write solutions that will identify new trends. This person should have a strong background in SQL and Python. The successful candidate will be open to aggregate, normalize, and clean data. The ideal fit is an engineer a demonstratable Data Science experience in a Financial Services environment, combined with a background in academic research. The Quantitative Analyst will work with our financial researchers, editors and marketing to craft and deliver various financial market reports, algorithms, and portfolio/strategy backtests.
Responsibilities
Work with key executives from multiple teams to understand problems, identify opportunities and present findings
Identify predictive features for those problems/opportunities and run them through ML algorithms within a predictive analytics framework, Data Robot
Extract the data required from the Data Warehouse (Snowflake) or other systems as needed, either through direct SQL extracts or other frameworks provided such as Looker, Tableau, etc.
Create backtests and reports on various financial models, and algorithms
Explore and enhance TradeSmith's deep financial data by crafting custom algorithms or indicators based on market data and trends
Perform other tasks as needed within the broader Data and BI teams.
Examples include, visualization tasks, BI meta data model development, data loading, data cleansing, etc.
Qualifications
BS or MS degree in Data Science or related quantitative field
A minimum of 2 years' work experience within Data Science
Highly proficient in SQL
Python coding experience
Comfortable working within a Predictive Analytics Framework
Excellent communication skills
Finance Technology background preferred
Comfortable with shifting priorities and a fast-paced work environment
Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing
Visual acuity for reading and using the computer
Ability to hear
Ability to freely move about the office or remote working environment
Ability to use the phone/computer/keyboard/mouse/general office equipment for extended periods of time
Ability to communicate with others in order to exchange information
Fluency in the English language
