Position Description:

Develops portfolio analytics graphics for an enhanced user experience using Barra, Axioma, and Fact Set. Tests multi-asset class fund alpha models. Expands investment methodologies across multiple account types and tax registrations into a unified investment framework. Back-tests strategies and conducts after tax risk analyses to determine optimal investment approaches. Partners with investment teams to deliver risk-adjusted performance for a wide range of investment solutions. Develops trading strategies by highlighting areas of improvements based on key measures and statistical tests.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Analyzes financial information to forecast business, industry, or economic conditions.

  • Prepares plans for action for investment, using financial analyses.

  • Interprets data on price, yield, stability, future investment-risk trends, economic influences, and factors affecting investment programs.

  • Evaluates and compares the relative quality of securities in a given industry.

  • Conducts quantitative analyses of information affecting investment programs of public or private institutions.

  • Partners with quantitative researchers and analytics groups on project work.

Education and Experience:

Master's degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Quantitative and Computational Finance, Mathematics, Finance, Computational Finance, Statistics, Economics, or a closely related field and no experience.

Skills and Knowledge:

Candidate must also possess:

  • Demonstrated Expertise ("DE") performing systematic tax-smart multi-account portfolio construction and optimization for retail and workplace (401(K) managed accounts, using Java, R,
  • SQL, and Axioma; developing multi-period back test frameworks that incorporates lot-level tax management, simulated returns, and multi-factor risk models, using R and SQL; developing quantitative methods to locate tax-efficient instruments in accounts of varying tax registrations, using R and Axioma; and visualizing analysis results to help inform business decisions in a managed accounts domain, using Spotfire and Tableau.
  • DE designing prototype tools that aid in writing trade rationales based on underlying model changes, using R and SQL; analyzing historical back test results to test foreign equity alpha signals obtained from running multivariable regressions, using R and CPLEX; deploying multiple Autosys jobs to Amazon Web Services (AWS) based Cloud computing environments to automate daily semi-production and research processes, using Jenkins pipelines.
  • DE migrating code base to utilize version control using Git and Bitbucket; building database schemas for storing large amounts of data and improving the efficiency of downstream analysis, using SQL and R; performing large-scale testing and analytics generation, using UNIX, Amazon AWS EC2 instances, and parallel computing techniques; and analyzing and translating
  • production-level Java code to R.
  • DE performing as a key member of a managed accounts investment R&D team - partnering with enterprise technology teams in the development and implementation of new capabilities based on novel investment methodologies and multi-portfolio optimization requirements; extracting, verifying, and summarizing results provided in AWS, Kafka, and Snowflake based software and improving after-tax return and asset location calculations; validating production data for pre trading account reconciliation using R and SQL; and diagnosing and troubleshooting optimization workspaces using Postman and Axioma.
