The Quality Technician, Sustaining Product Quality assists in the execution of activities to develop, improve and stabilize manufacturing processes. Primary focus is in supporting production operations to ensure parts manufactured meet customer requirements. This position reports to the Manager, Product Quality, Orchid Detroit.

  • Answers day to day quality related questions from operators (ex. cosmetics, gage issues)
  • Drives NCMR process for assigned area/customers
  • Escalates quality issues to engineers as necessary
  • May assemble teams to work through any CAPAs/NCMR/Audit finding for assigned area
  • Documents problem, cause, countermeasure for scrapped parts
  • Responsible for processing q-tagged jobs
  • Responsible for reviewing MR log
  • Follows rework/remake process through any required manufacturing steps to ensure the parts will meet print requirements
  • Keeps up on status of ECO jobs
  • Assists QE and manufacturing team with quality improvements and process problems
  • Communicates regularly with customers regarding quality-related concerns
  • Lead quality and compliance by utilizing One Orchid global processes and complying with all Quality Management Systems (QMS) documentation requirements and establishing/supporting plan(s) to meet/exceed Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for Quality that support Safety, Compliance, Six Sigma Quality, On-Time Delivery (OTD) and financial objectives.
  • Perform other duties as required or directed by the Department Manager
  • 3 - 5 years of experience in a working for Orchid or another medical device manufacturer
  • Proven history of professional communications with customers
  • Ability to apply logic and reasoning to solve problems, including identifying strengths/weaknesses, locating alternative solutions and conclusions, and approaches to problems; and making high-quality, timely decisions
  • Knowledge of quality management methods, tools, and techniques used to create and support an environment that meets the needs of the organization
  • Knowledge of internal processes and how they affect manufacturing of parts through the facility
  • Confidence in decision making
  • Ability to complete paperwork as requested by customers, engineers and management
  • Ability to accurately create inspection forms or review them for correctness

High school diploma required
2 Year Technical Degree preferred
Problem solving certification preferred

Position Description: Principal Supplier Development Professional responsible for "cradle to grave" quality management of Semiconductor devices and suppliers. Position Requirements: * Perform structured risk assessments to support Sourcing of Best in class semiconductor components for new product developments. * Conduct regular APQPs to minimize quality and reliability risks with new component introductions. Utilize ZF qualification standards to qualify new components and devise safe launch plans to ensure quality in production ramp-up. * Drive structured problem solving to identify root cause of quality concerns and ensure effective corrective/preventive actions are utilized at supplier manufacturing/testing processes to avoid reoccurrence of quality incidents. * Conduct audits, technical assessments, and process reviews on-site at Semiconductor and subcon locations. * Develop and maintain ZF standards for supplier manufacturing/testing/design processes based on lessons learned and best practices. Deploy read-across of established standards throughout the supply chain and with internal procedures. * Drive and monitor continuous improvement projects with key semiconductor suppliers to improve quality performance key performance indicators. * Support internal Knowledge Management program by developing and teaching courses in your area of process/technology expertise. * Work with Core Development, Purchasing, and Advanced Technology teams to ensure challenges for future component technologies and roadmaps are met in our Supplier Development programs. * Support our change management process to properly risk-assess and qualify any changes proposed by our semiconductor suppliers. Essential Skills and Experience: * Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Sciences or Engineering. Advanced degrees preferred. * Minimum 20 years of Direct work Experience in semiconductor manufacturing and/or testing. * High proficiency in use of Quality tools/methods (Six Sigma DMAIC/DFSS). * Excellent communication skills both in verbal/written with high proficiency in English. * Excellent Analytical skills required. Excellent leadership skills in leading Globally distributed team of internal and external partners. * Position requires approximately 50% Regional/international travel to ZF and Supplier locations.
