SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Quality Technician, Sustaining Product Quality assists in the execution of activities to develop, improve and stabilize manufacturing processes. Primary focus is in supporting production operations to ensure parts manufactured meet customer requirements. This position reports to the Manager, Product Quality, Orchid Detroit.

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Answers day to day quality related questions from operators (ex. cosmetics, gage issues)
  • Drives NCMR process for assigned area/customers
  • Escalates quality issues to engineers as necessary
  • May assemble teams to work through any CAPAs/NCMR/Audit finding for assigned area
  • Documents problem, cause, countermeasure for scrapped parts
  • Responsible for processing q-tagged jobs
  • Responsible for reviewing MR log
  • Follows rework/remake process through any required manufacturing steps to ensure the parts will meet print requirements
  • Keeps up on status of ECO jobs
  • Assists QE and manufacturing team with quality improvements and process problems
  • Communicates regularly with customers regarding quality-related concerns
  • Lead quality and compliance by utilizing One Orchid global processes and complying with all Quality Management Systems (QMS) documentation requirements and establishing/supporting plan(s) to meet/exceed Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for Quality that support Safety, Compliance, Six Sigma Quality, On-Time Delivery (OTD) and financial objectives.
  • Perform other duties as required or directed by the Department Manager
EXPERIENCE
  • 3 - 5 years of experience in a working for Orchid or another medical device manufacturer
  • Proven history of professional communications with customers
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Ability to apply logic and reasoning to solve problems, including identifying strengths/weaknesses, locating alternative solutions and conclusions, and approaches to problems; and making high-quality, timely decisions
  • Knowledge of quality management methods, tools, and techniques used to create and support an environment that meets the needs of the organization
  • Knowledge of internal processes and how they affect manufacturing of parts through the facility
  • Confidence in decision making
  • Ability to complete paperwork as requested by customers, engineers and management
  • Ability to accurately create inspection forms or review them for correctness
EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION

High school diploma required
2 Year Technical Degree preferred
Problem solving certification preferred

Air Quality Scientist 1 Summary: With guidance and mentoring from experienced air quality engineers and scientists, provide air quality services for solid waste and industrial clients. Help navigate complex air quality regulations for permitting, on-going compliance and reporting. Assist project managers by performing calculations, preparing monitoring plans, providing audit assistance, and evaluating ever-changing regulations. Additional work may involve environmental site investigations, data management, and field services as needed. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: * Read and understand federal, state and local air quality regulations. * Routine review and compilation of monitoring data and evaluate for compliance with conditions of the facility's Title V Air Permit and standard operating procedures. * Perform routine emission calculations and/or other types of calculations as required by a facility's Title V Air Permit. * Prepare greenhouse gas, monthly or more frequent deviation notices, semi-annual and annual compliance reports. * Prepare plans required by the Title V Air Permit and state and federal regulations. * Prepare requests that address alternatives to permit conditions and federal and state regulations. * Assist project manager and client with addressing state regulators concerns and responses to requests and permit applications. * Work with client operation and maintenance staff on maintaining compliance. * Assist in preparation of construction and operation air permit applications. * Collect samples and ship to laboratory for testing and prepare follow up reports, as necessary. * Assist with performance testing of control devices. * Perform evaluations of gas collection and control systems to improve operation and/or compliance. * Perform quarterly methane surface monitoring for landfills. * Work at landfills, hazardous waste sites, contaminated sites, and/or other sites where heavy equipment, contamination, or other health hazards may exist. * Train with experienced staff on landfill wellfield tuning activities. * Assist in proposal efforts as directed. * Assist project manager with notifying clients of compliance status, as directed. * Implement safe work practices.
