Job description

The Quality Technician is capable of conducting, auditing, inspecting, and testing of the Quality System Programs. Each technician must appropriately monitor and respond to all process operating guidelines.

Job responsibilities
1.Key point of contact to help identify and resolve issues for any and all food safety, regulatory and quality issues on the shift (holds, sanitation concerns, startups, extraneous investigations, etc.)
2.Product attributes for the previous shift must be reviewed at the beginning of each shift (including net contents).
3.Traceability Tests must be reviewed and verified to ensure batch numbers are appropriately documented for primary packaging material.
4.Each technician is to review mixing sheets (207's). When auditing the mixing sheets errors such as incorrect lot numbers, quantities, temperatures, etc should be identified.
5.Metal Detection

a. Review Metal Detector checks completed during the previous shift and react to any non-conformities.

b. If any metal detector failure/deviation occurs a risk assessment must be completed by the end of your shift on the day of the occurrence.

c. Create and maintain test package. Ensure there is an adequate supply of MD forms available for each line.

a. Technician must perform the initial investigation and get the right resources involved in the investigation

b. Holds must be documented in the database and must clearly identify the non-conformities.

Supporting data should be documented in the hold details. Supporting data includes, but is not limited to, the following: Investigation details, root cause/corrective action, KPOGs data points, specification limits.

c. Categorize (I, II, or III) holds appropriately

d. Take pictures of any issues that will support the hold for non-conforming product.

e. Perform traces in Red Prairie and recall product as necessary.

f. Work with operations to sample/rework Quality Holds.
7.Model 26 Documentation for the previous shift is to be collected and reviewed daily. Any deviations should be highlighted in a report to Quality management and operations (BUMS, Supervisor, etc).
8.Extraneous findings should be uploaded to the team site and stored in the Extraneous Binder. They are not to be left on the counter.

i. PowerPoint presentations must be created within 24 hours for extraneous events.

ii. Participate in extraneous investigations to determine the source. Assist operations in completing Food Safety Incident Reports.
9.GMP/Food Safety Inspections

i. Pre-operational inspections must be completed prior to start-up whenever an area has been idle for 8 hours or more. Completed forms should be stored in the binder located in the war room.

ii. Equipment must be inspected after maintenance work is completed. An orange tag will need to be signed off for these events.

iii. Ad hoc inspections are required for other events that are Quality or Food Safety concerns: environmental issues, blood borne pathogens, brittle plastic or broken glass
10. Each QC technician is expected to troubleshoot and resolve issues for equipment occurring on their shift.
11. Shift Reports must be completed and uploaded to the team site on a daily basis to keep track of all quality issues that occur on each shift.

QC Technician Individual Responsibilities

  • Lab equipment (weekly) verifications

  • RFT/Faulty

  • Ordering Lab Supplies (tape, buffer, chemicals)

  • GMP Inspections

  • Materials Storage Inspections

  • Raw and packaging material complaints/investigations.

  • Material Specifications updates (SAP and iQS)

  • DOE Requests

Quality Lab Schedule
1st Shift QC Technician 07:30am-03:30pm
2nd Shift QC Technician 03:30pm-11:30pm
3rd Shift QC Technician 11:30pm-07:30am
1.Bachelor degree (In Food or Life Science preferred).
2.Microsoft Office knowledge.
3.Great communication skills (Oral and written).
4.Experience in a manufacturing environment.
5.The candidate must be able to work in different shifts and some weekends.

Additional Responsibilities Include: * Reviews SOPs to ensure that the most recently approved SOP procedures and forms are in the center procedure manuals and in use. * Complies with federal, state, local and company-specific regulations related to quality of product, employee and donor safety and to the proper performance of day-to-day activities. * Reviews equipment calibration, validation, and maintenance records to ensure they are performed correctly and on time. * Reviews freezer and refrigerator charts and temperature records for compliance with SOP. * Performs QA review of external sample and product shipment releases and shipping records. * Performs QA review of training records to ensure compliance with SOP, training manual and regulations. * Performs QA review of deviation reports. * Ensures the Donor Center's licenses and certificates are in-date and valid. * Reviews donor record files daily per DCOP instruction. * Reviews of all product destruction records for compliance with SOPS. * Stages plasma units for shipment, requires pulling plasma cases in and out of freezer. Performs Quality Control Procedures * Performs a QA review of reactive donor record files, including look-back records for compliance with SOP. * Reviews Quality Control checks on equipment, reagents, and records have been performed as required and are in acceptable ranges. * Performs audits for self-assessment evaluation, monitor records, and overall compliance related to the company quality systems. * Attends and assists in all audits and ensures that all audits (internal and external) are performed, documented, reviewed, and closed. * Assists in maintaining the established quality system under any requirements that affect the center and help ensure that all operations in the center are in compliance with the Company's Quality Program. * Assists in, conducts, and evaluates center training and orientation programs. Requirements * Associates degree in applicable field of study preferred or equivalent job experience. * Must have a minimum of one (1) years related work experience, preferably in a donor center. * One (1) year work experience in biologics quality assurance preferred. * Must have legible handwriting. * Must possess knowledge and aptitude to learn various computer software; such as word processing, spreadsheets, or other related software programs. * Must have adequate communication skills and be able to effectively communicate with people of all levels. * Must have excellent organizational skills and must be detail-oriented. * Ability to operate computer software including keyboard, typewriter, and calculator.
