Job Description:

Quality representative for manufacturing process with primary goal of investigating failures to determine root cause, containment of suspect product, and to drive continuous improvement through effective corrective actions to reduce failures and scrap. Actions taken are to protect internal and external customers from nonconforming product.

  1. Investigate failures from manufacturing process including opening units lathe, mill machine, drill press to determine root cause; ability to learn & understand complex processes
  2. Capable of gaining knowledge of components & assemblies by understanding drawings & standards with the ability to measure parts with calipers, micrometers, and pin gages
  3. Following Jidoka concept & culture in investigating process failures
  4. Using Quality assurance tools:

a) Basic understanding of Statistical Process Control (SPC),

b) Basic understanding of process capability & ability to generate capability reports,

c) Capable of completing a Gage R&R study,

d) Basic understanding & ability to complete Torque Accuracy studies,

e) Basic understanding of 8D problem solving method,

f) Understanding of pareto, histogram, & normal distribution
5) Handling suspect product:

a) Confidence in using authority to stop a line or station which is producing high quality risk product,

b) Understanding of steps required for containment of suspect material,

c) Using SAP to check inventory and block/ unblock product or material
6) Defining & adhering to Quality practices by:

a) writing work instructions & Critical Visual Inspections,

b) preparing for internal & external audits,

c) meeting PPAP requirements for Failure Analysis
7) Basic understanding of qualification for a process measurement, error proofing, calibration of load cell or pressure transducers
8) Expected manufacturing work experience of one year in quality

Job Requirements

Basic Qualifications:

    • AAS Degree and at least 1-year experience in a manufacturing or quality environment; or
    • Within 12 months of graduating with an AAS Degree and 2 years experience in a manufacturing or quality environment
  • Ability to effectively read, write and communicate in English

  • -Intermediate computer skills (MS Office, email... )

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Associates Degree in a technical discipline plus 2-5 years of quality experience in a manufacturing environment.
    • Automotive manufacturing experience.
    • Experience using SAP
  • Experience operating test and teardown equipment (test stands, measuring devices, lathe, etc.)

  • Knowledge of SPC
