Quality Technical Lead

BASIC FUNCTION

Under QEM supervision, employee will perform functions that include, but are not limited to, product safety inspections and audits, sampling inspections, material testing, train others in quality work instructions and procedures, fill in for QC Tech if needed, and back up in performing trials.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform incoming inspection and testing on material received from various suppliers. Identify status of material and properly approve/reject material.

• Generate nonconformance report and coordinate with purchasing on return of nonconforming material.

• Maintain records of quantity of purchased regrind received from various vendors.

• Maintain records for all material vendors and assist in their evaluation and qualification.

• Maintain inventory of raw material samples.

• Test sample material from railcars and retain samples.

• Calibrate and maintain calibration records for all lab equipment, production scales, and indication both monthly and quarterly.

• Schedule annual calibrations and send equipment out to be calibrated as needed. (Updating instrument master list as needed)

• Cross train in other roles in department as needed for back up.

• Perform product safety inspections and BRC internal audits as required. Keep records and logs as appropriate.

• Other tasks, projects, and assignments as needed.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Must have functional knowledge of standard lab testing equipment.

• Must be detailed and multitask oriented.

• Must have clear and concise communication skills.

• General knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office software.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

• High School Diploma.

Experience

• Minimum two years experience in quality control (preferably polymer testing).
• HACCP certified (preferably)

WORK ENVIRONMENT - HOURLY POSITIONS

Our manufacturing plant is not environmentally controlled. Changes in humidity and temperature occur throughout the year. Although machine noise is a constant, conditions are maintained within standards that meet OSHA mandated requirements, and which our Safety Committee monitors.

• Work in accordance with all company policies and procedures regarding employment, safety, quality, product safety and legality, security, and regulatory compliance as applicable.

• Maintain tidy and organized quality lab and sample room.
