Job Description

Responsible for assessing the manufacturing process and product condition from its raw material stage to be a completed product, to ensure it complies with quality standards.

  • Use of testing and measurement equipment to conduct inspections.

  • Check parts & processes to specifications per defined inspection methods.

  • Work with math formulas, weights, etc. in checking product and processes (material, components, etc...)

  • Use and drive actions with QAS (Quality Aided System) for SPC data collection.

  • Monitor product identification and status (move tickets, packaging, labels, etc..)

  • Perform studies (Gage R&R, Capability, etc)

  • Know how to use specified gages per inspection requirements.

  • Collect, store and maintain records for archives.

  • Review data with customer representatives, leaders, buyers, and operators.

  • Check purchase order numbers and review certifications for correct results.

  • Adherence to non-conformance material (NCM).

  • Transactions in ERP system

  • Monitor material through quarantined area.

  • Closure of NCMR tickets in database.

  • Perform Product and Material testing per defined inspection methods.

  • Perform process & product audits per schedule

  • Active participation on problem solving process.

  • Basic blueprint, specifications, deviations, and measuring instruments reading.

  • Assist in operator training consisting of quality-related tasks as needed.

  • Prepare reports general reports as needed.

Required Skills

Requires ability to read blueprints, use measuring instruments, perform computer functions, etc. Ability to communicate. Requires judgment when auditing parts. Decision-making a must. Must be able to follow detailed inspection procedure. Must pass a mechanical aptitude test.

Required Experience

Prior experience in quality control in a manufacturing environment is mandatory.

The Raytheon Missiles & Defense (RMS) Missions Assurance (MA) organization enables engineering quality solutions, capabilities and services to the business. MA embeds itself throughout the Engineering lifecycle to prevent defects from reaching the warfighter and to ensure flawless program execution to meet quality, cost, schedule and technical objectives. We have an immediate need for a Principal Software Quality Engineer for the Air Power and Strategic Missile Defense Software Assurance Section located in Woburn, MA. This Section is responsible to partner with Engineering to ensure work products are free from defects throughout the engineering lifecycle. As a Principal Software Quality Engineer, you are an important member of the Missions Assurance Quality Team. The ideal candidate will be required to come on-site either at the Woburn, MA facility or Huntsville, AL facility on a part-time basis or as business needs dictate. The Principal Software Quality Engineer will be an, individual contributors ensuring verification and validation of design, development and integration of RMD software products. Software products include artifacts related to embedded code, simulations, firmware, and other artifacts as required by contract. You will help to ensure programs meet customer objectives for Mission Assurance, working closely with other Cross Business Teams (CBTs), to affect rapid closure of issues utilizing analytical capabilities and communication skills. Responsibilities include the following: * Program Execution Support - participate in all phases of software product design and development lifecycle. The Quality Engineer will ensure all program software products have appropriate quality requirements identified, allocated and planned for. The Software Assurance Engineer will generate inputs to Software, Systems, I&T and other work products. * Product Continuous Improvement - perform independent quality evaluations/risk assessments of activities across the software product development lifecycle. The Quality Engineer will facilitate root cause analysis and corrective action planning for all software-related nonconformances. * Process Improvement - improve, streamline, and deploy quality and software engineering processes to design in quality and eliminate escapes, and will participate in, and actively lead, project activities to improve key processes. Partner with organizations within and outside of Quality and Mission Assurance to improve product quality and process effectiveness. * Knowledge and Tools Development - provide Quality personnel with knowledge and tools to improve product quality in areas such as code analysis, root cause corrective action, information assurance and development methodologies. The candidate determines and pursues courses of action to obtain the desired results. Typical work involves assuring the integrity of software, firmware, configurable logic, and modeling and simulation, across various disciplines within Engineering. Required Skills: * A minimum of ten (8) years of technical/engineering experience in a Quality environment with emphasis in software development. * Must have or be able to obtain a DoD issued Secret Security Clearance Desired Skills: * Advanced experience with Agile or DevOps software development. Emphasis on software testing, continuous integration and continuous monitoring is preferred. * Confluence and Jira expertise using Agile tools and methods * Ability to write code (SQL, Java Script, Html) and work with data visualization tools like BI and Garfana. * Ability to transform data into actions * Experience with Microsoft Windows 10 and Unix skill set. * Strong team player who is a self starter and proactive about tackling technical tasks. * Project and workload management skills to utilize resources effectively to satisfy demanding internal customers and implementation schedules * Technical leadership of small teams * Ability to coordinate with product (Integrated Product Teams and Quality Systems Managers) and functional teams * "Customer" oriented, and driven to meet or exceed expectations * Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills * Strong team-player * Working knowledge of EVMS, CMMI, ISO9000/AS9100 and IPDS * Experience using Six Sigma practices to continuously improve software systems created using the Quality Management System requirements based on AS9100 and AS9115 * Practical experience of Guidance, Navigation, Signal Processing, Radar and Discrimination systems and associated algorithms is highly desired * Advanced degree - M.S.
