Description and Responsibilities Human safety, food safety, adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices, and product quality are the highest priorities.
Other duties may be assigned.
Hiring and Supervision of Quality and Sanitation staff, includes scheduling, approving time records, periodic evaluation, counseling, and performance documentation.
Responsible for conducting departmental and job specific training.
Responsible for driving improvements within the department and the plant.

Responsible for conducting departmental and job specific training.
Conduct laboratory analyses and investigations, develop and apply new techniques.
Notify key stakeholders of identified issues and ensure proper communication.
Provide technical support for resolution of quality problems with operations.
Maintain files of test results and product dispositions.
Support Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). Maintain and update product specifications including customer specifications and raw material specifications to reflect any changes or product use requirements.
Ensure finished product and raw materials are tested per Kerry specification.
Monitor test results in relation to these specifications.
Development and adherence to Quality SOPs.
Support the plant Food Safety & Quality System to produce safe quality food, acting as SQF Practitioner or equivalent GFSI manager (BRC, FS22000). Prepare test schedules and procedures, solutions, and reagents for use by laboratory personnel in conducting tests.
Maintain Good Laboratory Procedures (GLPs) including calibration.
Order laboratory supplies.
In conjunction with the Quality Manager, update and support food safety programs and food safety systems:
HACCP, sanitation, and environmental monitoring program.
Maintain the quality systems for the plant.
Ensure work instructions, SSOPs, procedures and other pertinent documentation is up to date.
Recommend revisions plant work instructions as needed.
Participate in quality complaint investigations.
Verify corrective action completion and continued conformance.
Perform and/or participate in internal audits while ensuring compliance to internal quality policies and applicable local regulations through the audits, observations, process reviews, and development of corrective actions with site management.
Support facility during inspections, customer audits, communications, commercialisations, and other interactions with regulatory agencies or customers.
Provide technical assistance to quality assurance and operations.
Performs other duties and responsibilities as required.
Qualifications Bachelors degree from an accredited institution in Food Science, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Microbiology, or similar science/Engineering.
Minimum 1-2 years of quality experience preferred Experience with laboratory, quality, and/or food safety systems preferred HACCP/food safety experience preferred Experience in food, chemical, or Pharmaceutical industry preferred Knowledge and experience with quality management systems, GFSI audit standards, SSOPs preferred.
Environmental hygiene programs, prerequisite programs and HACCP preferred Knowledge of relevant GFSI standards such as SQF, BRC, IFS or FS 22000 Knowledge and understanding of Food Safety regulations, FSMA, and industry and market trends.
Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal, with a variety of stakeholders.

VIEW JOBS 12/11/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-03-11T00:00 Quality Control Lab Technician, Elk Grove Village, IL Working Hours M-F 10:00AM to 6:30PM starting January 2nd Training Hours M-F 5:00AM to 3:30PM for the rest of 2018 12+ month contract via Kelly Services Job Summary: Note: Must be a self motivated individual or can work on their own with little to no supervision once he/she is trained The quality technician position is responsible for conducting routine quality control testing and in a manufacturing environment as well as some future analytical testing of products. The primary objective is to provide timely and accurate results in a safe working environment to facilitate the production process. * Duties include various wet chemical and functional analyses of samples for process control and final quality inspection release. * The types of analyses include viscosity, solids, and adhesion and instrumental particle size analysis together with other standard testing. * In the near future, there is expected to be some analytical testing (i.e. GC) performed in the lab. * All testing is conducted in accordance with established ISO9001 methods and standard procedures. * As time permits, assist production and/or logistics with various tasks such as labeling pails, driving a forklift and skidding for operators, strapping/stretch wrapping palleted material, confirming process sheets, etc.. Job Responsibilities: * Actively participate in EH&S training and Safety meetings and EH&S projects and initiatives. * Have a thorough knowledge of all departmental procedures as well as Plant and safety requirements * Perform routine quality control tests in an accurate and timely manner. Conduct this testing according to the procedure in accordance with ISO9001 and departmental work processes as established. * Conduct all testing with the proper use of personal protective equipment and devices. * Accurately/neatly record all lab results in accordance with department procedures, including communications of results, problems, and priorities to production and other effected parties. * Maintain equipment and instruments in proper working order through conformance to acceptable maintenance, operating and calibration procedures. * Maintain proper housekeeping and cleanliness in all work areas. Maintain routine supplies in work area * Assist troubleshooting quality and plant process problems through the use of RCI's, Analytical testing, etc. * Focus on Process Improvement ideas for the lab as well as in the plant * Analyze data and propose changes based on data when appropriate * Assist production & logistics as needed with labeling, skidding, banding, confirming process sheets, etc. Important information: This position is recruited for by a remote Kelly office, not your local Kelly branch.
