3M is seeking a Quality Supervisor for the PTFE Manufacturing operation, located in Aston, PA (Greater Philadelphia). At 3M, you can apply your talent in bold ways that matter. Here, you go.

Job Summary:

The person hired for this position will report to the plant manager and be a key member of their leadership team. This individual will be responsible for the plant quality systems, the laboratory and both ISO 9001 Quality System as well as 17025 (A2LA). They will acquire and maintain a broad knowledge of PTFE manufacturing process and, as the quality engineer, will be the key quality link between the plant, the business team and division quality. This position is a great opportunity for an engineer with a strong technical background to grow into a leadership role by getting exposure to various aspects of an operation (manufacturing/lean/quality/regulatory/business).

This position provides an opportunity to transition from other private, public, government or military environments to a 3M career.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Communicating with internal and external business partners/customers.

  • Traveling to key customers as technical support to business group.

  • Clearly communicating to all employees within the PTFE manufacturing operations the expectations and results of the facility with respect to quality requirements.

  • Leading and driving to root cause for quality issues; including documentation into 3M quality systems.

  • Quality SAP Superuser Lead.

  • Developing or directing development of standard operating, factory, quality and administrative procedures and policies for manufacturing and testing.

  • Providing operator training and assistance on critical to quality testing.

  • Maintaining and overseeing key projects and product opportunities.

  • Leading cross functional teams and programs to drive continuous improvement.

  • Employing Lean principles into existing manufacturing process ensuring production tools are in support of manufacturing excellence.

  • Providing directions to lab technicians, address corrective and preventive actions, address customer complaints, and guide purchases of new/required lab equipment.

  • Acting as ISO Management Representative for the site; coordinate internal auditing schedule, conduct audits with internal and external sources, address corrective and preventive actions for ISO, and lead the team through the annual external audit.

  • Member of Plant Manager's leadership team; provide quality and engineering guidance during meetings, engage in staffing, scheduling, projects and other decisions.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Possess a Bachelor's degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution

  • Minimum of three (3) years' experience in one or more of the following areas: quality, application engineering, product engineering, manufacturing engineering, manufacturing technology, process engineering, project engineering, and/or research laboratory within a private, public, government or military environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Possess a Bachelor's degree or higher in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution

  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certified

  • Strong leadership behaviors

  • Well organized with proven ability to hand simultaneous priorities

  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation communication skills

  • Hands on energized self-starter and team player

Location: Aston, PA

Travel: May include up to 10% domestic
