Quality Senior Principal Engineer - Austin, TX

The Customer Quality Manager (Senior Principal Engineer) is responsible for driving continuous improvement projects in the quality of Dell systems as experienced by our customers. The ideal candidate will be able to successfully lead proactive Quality Assurance plans and program manage their resolution.

This job includes the application of quality engineering and continuous improvement principals, customer and sales account team interaction, and the ability to get things done in a large global company with a highly diverse customer set. Role Responsibilities:

Manage customer programs/projects from initiation through delivery - interfacing with both internal/external customers and stakeholders

Manage customer quality escalations starting with the analytical investigation through the timely development and delivery of a solution

Proactively engage with customers and account teams to identify CE improvement opportunities

Process improvement through solving of challenges and process barriers

Requirements:

Fluency in English in a business/professional environment

Strong familiarity and technical understanding of Dell Client Solutions Group technology, products, and solutions

Experienced in dealing directly with external customers

Ability to prioritize and manage work to critical project timelines in a fast-paced and often ambiguous environment

Experienced in Program Management with strong Analytic and Presentation skills

Ability to develop new approaches to complex problems

Prior experience in a product development, sales support or customer support organizations

Strong oral and written communication skills

Strong computer skills and proficient with Excel, PowerPoint, and Word

Education & Work Experience: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (any field of study) + 8 years of relevant work experience OR Master's degree in Engineering + 6 years of relevant work experience

Must be organized, have an eye for detail, and be able to put ideas into action

Can-do attitude and strong drive for results through relationship building and influencing skills

Willingness to travel within the Americas (customer site) at short notice

Preferred Qualifications:

PMI, Six Sigma and or ASQ type certification

We look for ways to improve the inspection, verification and validation of our finished products. Our team defines strategy – not to mention governance – for the implementation of quality standards and methodology. In addition to participating in the review of engineering designs, we assist customers or engineers in gathering and analyzing data. The Customer Retail Quality Manager at Dell is responsible for the quality experience our largest and most strategic customers have with our products and solutions. Will be responsible for the effective management of systemic product quality issues for customers, both reactively and proactively, the person will engage with all levels of leadership within key customer accounts to share product quality information, respond to quality requests, address quality concerns and manage quality remediation programs in the field. The ideal candidate is heavily focused on delivering an exceptional customer experience in every interaction and is responsible for supporting their country sales teams and ensuring positive quality performance for their customers. Key Responsibilities * Management of systemic product quality issues escalated by Sales and Services support. * Pre and post sales quality engagements -- The Quality Retail Manager is responsible for sharing the value proposition of Dell's quality philosophy, both in pre-sales (acquisition) engagements, as well as post-sales (existing customers) interactions. * In-Depth quality data analytics -- The person is responsible for detailed and robust data analysis to identify possible emerging quality concerns within customers' environments, to substantiate concerns regarding product quality, and to share with customers sophisticated reporting regarding their specific quality experience. * Collaborate with Dell functions to provide root cause analysis and field solutions for product quality issues. Alert field issues into Global Early Warning Forum. * Assess any product /service quality issues and develop a risk mitigation plan. Consider the impact to NPS/pNPS and Product Quality COD * Develop CLCA product quality improvement plans, partnering closely with PG and Global Ops teams Active management of Quality Projects and Programs -- When necessary, the person is responsible for developing quality remediation projects that meet the needs of both their customers and Dell, and address issues in the customer's environment. Essential Requirements Extensive coordination of communications and information dissemination with sales force, customers, and cross-functional organizations; manages regular updates with thoroughness and professionalism. * Exceptional demonstration of urgency and ownership to sales teams and customers. * Identification of issues/process improvements for workgroup to improve customer experience or productivity. * Quality experience with Dell PC or Services. Advanced knowledge and skilled use of Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel & PowerPoint. * Customer facing experience necessary. * Demonstrate strong project management skills (BPI, Six Sigma or PMP) * Ability to manage multiple accounts and/or projects. * Ability to drive root cause analysis to closure, interpret alternatives and present solutions. * Strong analytical skills with expertise in MS-Excel and D3.
