The Quality Nurse is a key contributor to our regional leadership teams at Oak Street Health. S/he champions the organization's mission to provide high quality clinical care by leading the assessment, enrichment and implementation of a strong clinical care model. The primary focus of this role is to ensure clinical care team members have the structure for effective and safe care delivery.


Clinical Quality Ambassador

  • Support in-the-moment safety resolution (pre- incident reporting); follow-up on submitted safety incidents or good catches (post -incident reporting)

  • Support Practice Managers with gap resolution resulting from Monthly Safety Checklists

  • Partner with Practice Managers to ensure flu shot and TB testing delivered to employees in region

  • Prioritize the safety of lab and clinical services through QA efforts and proper CLIA maintenance

  • In partnership with central team, and other regions, maintain clinical supply formulary, and effective (in-budget) supply management practices

  • Represent and reinforce existing standard operating procedures across all locations

Training & Coaching:

  • Partner with HR and Practice Managers to administer clinical competencies and skills assessment at time of hire and annually

  • Provide inservices and coaching to clinical team members as needed for new operating procedures and workflow adherence

  • Seek opportunities to optimize clinical workflows, leveraging dashboards and metrics as needed, and partner with Clinical Quality to develop or refine standard operating procedures

  • Ad hoc support for special projects (e.g. clean-up and structure supply closet, help with backlog on results or orders, disease-specific registry support, etc)

  • Champion population health initiatives, including preventative screenings, vaccinations, and other annual quality measures.

Hiring & Staffing:

  • Serve as a resource to PM on the hiring and staffing of clinical staff

  • Serve as a resource to PM for clinical staffing plan/ coverage

  • Support training & onboarding of new clinical staff (RNs, MAs, Phlebotomists)

  • As needed: offer staffing support to clinics during vacancies

What we're looking for:

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in good standing required in the state where care is located (if region is in multiple states, at least one of the states where the region is located)

  • Preferred graduate of an accredited school of nursing; preferred Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN), required Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

  • Minimum 4 years of nursing experience, ideally in similar health care environment

  • Preferred minimum 2 years of experience in a supervisory, leadership position, or similar experience

  • US work authorization

Ideal Candidates Will Have:

  • Experience ensuring safe patient care delivery through consistent infection control, workflows and care team training

  • Experience supporting teams, cohorts or colleagues with initial and ongoing training to ensure safe care delivery

  • Experience supporting hiring and staffing

  • Experience working in an accredited facility
