Position Profile:

This position provides QA leadership for Brill plants by carrying out the quality strategy, improving quality standards, goals and objectives. This position will focus on Quality Systems, Food Safety and the appropriate food safety systems, Sanitation, Regulation and GFSI Compliance and execution of such in plant operations.

Position Description:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and update the Brill Quality Manual as well as train quality team members on changes, updates and new additions.

  • Lead the facilities in the adoption and disciplined use of a clearly defined, well-documented, and systematic commercialization process for implementing change into plant processes for new product launches and product process redesigns.

  • Setting QA Compliance Objectives and insuring targets are achieved.

  • Lead the process of moving from a quality control minded organization to a quality assurance minded organization.

  • Set up the quality assurance systems for proper certification

  • Support facilities in consumer and customer complaint resolution and reduction activity across the enterprise.

  • Lead activities that empower, engage, and involve quality team members with information and tools for continuous improvement in quality systems, food safety, regulatory & GFSI compliance, R&D projects, process control, sanitation and EDGE..

  • Lead changes to Quality Manual Policy, Procedures and Forms in response to regulations, complaints, customer requests, cost-saving activity and ensure implementations of changes are executed within all facilities.

  • Lead and support the achievement of plant operations quality goals.

  • Guide the transition to operator-focused quality measurement.

  • Employ Quality management systems, EDGE and Continuous Improvement to place Quality at the heart of the organization.

  • Verify compliance of internal auditing requirements and manage the Brill iAuditor accounts and audit templates.

  • Execute Central Quality Audits to identify improvement opportunities for Brill plants to fully comply with GFSI (BRC), Regulatory and Brill standards.

  • Supports the GFSI Certification Body relationship with Brill.

  • Lead the plant Cross Check Program.

  • Support QM SAP Business Process Improvement through knowledge, execution, training and identifying improvement opportunities.

  • Lead efforts to reduce cost by standardizing processes, vendors, testing, etc. across plants.

  • Support and comply with all quality management systems, continuous improvement programs, food safety, employee safety, preventative maintenance programs and legality.

  • Maintain Quality Manual document control and support supply chain departments (eg. Safety, Warehouse, Transportation, etc.) with document control and policy/ procedure language.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Experience / Skills:

  • Solid knowledge of food manufacturing processes

  • Excellent understanding of food safety, quality and associated regulations

  • Experience using and training on ERP systems.

  • Experience in setting up HACCP, ISO and/or other food safety and quality assurance systems

  • BRC or GFSI experience preferred.

  • Experience: Minimum of 5+ years Quality Assurance Management in the food industry.

  • Experience in the food industry, sanitation, microbiological, production, environmental public health, chemistry and/ or laboratory, Food Safety or Quality related certifications preferred.

  • Working knowledge of statistical process control desired.

  • Must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment.

  • Must be able to analyse and recommend solutions to problems.

  • Must be able to manage projects and multiple tasks.

  • Excellent communication and report writing skills required.

  • Analytical and problem solving skills with an attention to detail are required.

  • Computer skills, Microsoft Office.

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish desired

Education:

  • Required: Bachelors degree

  • Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Food Science or related field.

Purpose: Monitors and reviews the inspection and daily quality control activities for incoming materials, work in-process, and final inspections and testing of finished products, to meet specification and quality standards. Job Responsibilities: * Tests and processes all raw materials, intermediates and finished goods samples in a timely manner. * Performs QA floor audits, analysis, etc. * Documents test results as required by the company's quality control testing procedures. * Evaluates test results and communicating deviations from the product specifications to the QA Supervisor and operators. * Collects samples: raw materials, intermediates and finished goods to submit for microbial testing and evaluation at contract labs. * Data entry into various systems and spreadsheets for QA program reporting. * Bakes samples in lab. * Performs pre-op and changeover inspections (including collecting ATP swabs). * Enters test data and releases products in ERP system. Segregates and marks any non-conforming product identified while performing line verifications or product evaluation. * Completes all necessary reporting and recordkeeping on product samples released and perform data entry for Statistical Process Control of production in a timely manner. * Completes Certificates of Analysis as required. * Performs daily equipment calibration. * Performs established analytical tests on specified raw ingredients and certify for use in production. * Assists in training new QA Laboratory technicians in physical baking and analytical testing procedures as well as inspection audit requirements. * Completes established shelf life tests of product samples as required. * Maintains cleanliness on line and 5S standards. Equipment and work areas must be kept organized, clean and sanitary throughout the shift. End of shift requires removal of any waste and garbage generated during the shift. Ensures proper care of equipment. * Supports product safety, quality and legality. * Supports, and comply with all quality management systems, continuous improvement programs, food safety, employee safety, preventative maintenance programs and legality. * Supports and complies with GMPs. * Participates in EDGE initiatives. * Follows all company policies and procedures. * Other duties as assigned. Skills/Work Experience: * High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor of Science Degree is preferred. * Minimum of 1 year of experience in quality control/assurance in the food or related industry is required. * Must have intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel. * Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. * Must be able to read and interpret basic written instructions and perform tasks and projects derived from written instructions. Understand, read, speak and write in English. * Must be able to manage time and priorities effectively and efficiently, keep confidential information secure, and be able to work well alone, as well as in a team environment. * Perform basic math skills such as adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing, as well as an ability to use a calculator. * Basic Statistical Process Control skills (using control charts, scatter diagrams, histograms, checksheets) * Must be able to work flexible hours. * Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. * Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. * Must be able to wear company-provided uniform.
