Located about 9 miles from Augusta, GA, Beech Island is an unincorporated community in Aiken County, South Carolina. According to tradition, the community was first named "Beech Highland" on account of its lofty elevation, and over time the H was dropped, causing the present name to be adopted.The plant is actually in Jackson, SC and is about 10 miles from the famous Augusta National Golf Course, home to the Masters Tournament.

Responsibilities

The goal of this position is to demonstrate excellence in quality efficiency within a facility.

The Plant Quality Manager will be responsible for the overall Quality strategy for the facility.

This person is responsible for managing and enforcing new and established, standards and protocols, ad hoc quality audits, committees, and training activities within a plant.

DESCRIPTION:

1.Develop, deploy and maintain the plant's quality, food product safety, and continuous improvement systems.

2.Regularly collect, analyze, summarize and report process quality information to all levels in the organization.

3.Develop, implement quality policies, procedures.

4.Plan, evaluate, and implement product specifications, test procedures.

5.Identify, recommend, acquire, and coordinate repairs, preventative maintenance, and calibration of testing equipment.

6.Work closely with R&D.

7.Provide technical support, expertise in statistical methods, DOE & continuous process improvements to plant population.

8.Manage data gathering software, including procurement, installation, programming & end-user training.

9.Provide analysis of data.



  1. Support cost reduction & process improvement projects.

  2. May participate in some HR initiatives.

  3. Coordinate and champion the plant in obtaining and sustaining the Food Product Safety certification (BRCGS), as well as other external customer certifications and inspections.

  4. Provide analytical support & coordinate the efforts involved in resolving quality issues in regards to product failures and/or returns.

  5. Act as a plant point of contact in regards to product quality for customer service, sales & marketing.

  6. Support product Value Stream quality initiatives and activities. Provide support and coordination with VS plants as needed


Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

" BS/BA degree in Business or Technical Discipline and 5-7 years of quality management experience or process engineering in a manufacturing environment.

" ASQ Certified Quality Engineer/Professional Quality/Statistical Application certification preferred.

" Microsoft Office, Statistical Software & some programming experience.

" Statistical methods & process improvement techniques.

" Superior mathematical & statistical ability.

" Knowledge of manufacturing lab practices & test procedure.

" Continuing education: quality, statistical applications, business communication with a minimum of 1 seminar or course every other year.

" Ability to work a flexible schedule including off-shift coverage & some weekends.

" Occasional travel for trainings.
