About the job:

Based in San Francisco and reporting into the Senior Director of Operations this role will be responsible for ensuring quality of our complete range of prescription, cosmetic and supplement products. You will be responsible for developing and assuring ongoing adherence to quality processes and systems used in the production and distribution of our products, internally and with 3rd party partners. You will lead the continuous improvement of our operating policies and practices to achieve steady, measurable improvement in product safety and regulatory compliance.


  • Ensure management and maintenance of all areas related to quality, meeting the company's business needs, developing company best practices, standards, and continuous improvement

  • Ensure proactive compliance to all applicable internal, domestic, and international quality regulations

  • Coordinate testing procedures between internal and 3rd party groups to ensure all new and existing products meet hims' standard of quality

  • Maintain database of development and production quality testing results

  • Develop Quality Agreements with new and existing suppliers

  • Conduct in-person audits and visits to ensure that the co-manufacturers can meet hims' QA requirements

  • Manage relationships with designated external analytical testing partners


  • 5+ years experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field required

  • Master's degree a plus

  • Supply Chain/Quality related certifications a plus

  • Experience working with pharmaceutical, cosmetic, and/or supplement manufacturers required

  • Willingness and ability to quickly come up to speed on quality requirements & regulations in new fields

  • Comfortable working in a fluid environment, managing fluctuating priorities

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and drive internal & external decisions

  • Familiarity with FDA certifications and other QA regulations

  • Up to 25% travel

The Security & Compliance team at Mapbox builds best-in-class security monitoring and remediation systems and attains compliance certifications (e.g. SOC 2, ISO, etc.) that attest to the reliability and quality of our operations. We build innovative solutions that protect Mapbox through monitoring potential threats and empowering all teams to understand and own the security of their services. Additionally, we are responsible for training all employees about secure development and operational practices, communicating with customers about the security of our platform and the value of our compliance status, and keeping Mapbox leadership apprised of security and quality concerns and remediation on a regular basis. What you'll do Mapbox is looking for a talented and innovative Compliance Manager to run our compliance programs related to security, quality, and reliability. You'll be responsible for defining our compliance roadmap and implementing processes and services needed to achieve those certifications. You'll help drive a culture of operational excellence across Mapbox, and you'll develop creative ways to embed compliance adherence into the fabric of the product development workflow and company operations for every employee. In this role, you can expect to: * Develop and improve processes to ensure security and quality compliance adherence in a fast-paced, rapid-growth, innovative startup environment. You'll partner with security engineers, our legal team, leadership, and employees across the company to strengthen our compliance posture. This will include things like: running beta-testing and managing launches for new internal processes, writing internal documentation, building metrics to track effectiveness over time, creating training curricula for employees, and streamlining evidence collection needed for audits. * Present regularly to all of Engineering and our executive team on company-wide adherence to security and quality processes * Represent Mapbox's compliance portfolio and security and quality stature to customers, through questionnaires, calls, onsite visits, and conduct internal trainings for sales enablement on these topics * Own and facilitate audits (internal and external), gap assessments, re/certification projects, consultant relationships, and internal trainings related to Mapbox's compliance portfolio. What we believe are important traits for this role * Experience with software development and cloud computing concepts, SOC 2 and ISO specifications, and experience working with individuals across business functions and at all levels (engineers, management, executives, legal professionals, etc.), preferably in an environment of rapid company growth * Exceptionally concise, well-organized, and clear written and verbal communication skills, and the flexibility to mold messaging to accommodate distinct audiences * Autonomy around driving work to completion in the face of ambiguity, and a personal drive to expand your comfort zone * A systems-oriented approach to work, experience using metrics and scalable, automated processes to drive decision-making and execution * Ability to exercise sound judgement under pressure, manage multiple complex engagements simultaneously, and build consensus across diverse stakeholders * Creativity, scrappiness, and an obsession with details * Familiarity with our tools and technology: Github, Excel, SQL (via Mode or Tableau), and AWS is a plus By applying for this position, you acknowledge that you have received the Mapbox Non-US Privacy Notice for applicants, which is linked here.
