Job Summary:

As the Plant Quality Manager manages all aspects of plant quality including assuring overall product quality, quality metrics development/analysis/reporting, quality standards and process development, 3rd party certification compliance and implementation of quality plans based on strategic initiatives

Essential Duties Include:

  • Provide cross functional plant quality leadership.

  • Develop and execute tactical plans to achieve overall quality strategy.

  • Provide technical guidance and implementation of quality tools, methods and processes.

  • Support and facilitate continuous improvement projects.

  • Develop quality standards, processes and procedures.

  • Responsible for CAPA (corrective action/preventive action) process.

  • Responsible for control of non-conforming material and the material review board processes.

  • Responsible for incoming inspection of parts and materials.

  • Collect, analyze and report key quality metrics.

  • Ensure maintenance of all quality records.

  • Specify and provide training on in-process quality requirements for manufacturing personnel.

  • Responsible for plant level Quality Management System.

  • Interface with Engineering, Customer Service, Operations, 3rd party auditors, suppliers and customers.

  • Identify areas for improvement and develop plans for implementing changes.

  • Responsible for internal ISO plant audits and reporting.

  • Prepare for and assist with annual 3rd party compliance audits

Requirements:
About you:

You will have a B.S. Degree in Quality Engineering or other engineering discipline You will have 7+ years of plant quality experience in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment such as rail, custom fabrication of equipment or automotive. You will have 3+ years of supervisory or management experience. Preferred attributes would be a Master's Degree in Business or Engineering and 10+ years of manufacturing operations experience. Also. You will have 10+ years of quality management experience and CQE, CQM, or Black Belt in Lean or Six Sigma.

Travel Requirements:

  • 5%-10% domestic travel with opportunity for global travel

Work Environment - While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

They will review quality standards, tolerances, and engineering changes. Investigates and analyzes quality problems, recommends solutions and ensures corrections are made accordingly. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: * Establish and maintain document and record requirements. * Plan, develop, apply and maintain quality requirements and standards for new and existing products * Serve as Management Representative for customer and third-party audits * Plan and facilitate site Management Reviews with Plant Manager * Determine quality training needs for inspectors and operators. Provide training as needed * Assist Sales in review of contract requirements and our capability to meet them * Document and report issues related to purchased products * Design and implement methods for process control, process improvement, testing and inspection * Monitor effectiveness of inspection function and implement changes as required * Develop test and inspections methods as needed. Perform measurement system analysis and improve measurement capabilities. * Conduct machine and process qualifications * Establish controls for process and product changes * Maintain product identification and traceability controls * Maintain gage calibration system * Maintain internal audit program including process audits, and audits specific to corrective and preventive actions * Establish and maintain effective process for control of nonconforming materials * Analyze data to identify improvement opportunities and initiate actions for improvement * Investigate customer complaints, yield issues, and other process failures and initiate corrective and preventive action as appropriate. * Lead problem solving teams to achieve improvements, while developing and maintaining continuous improvement records Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required * Four year Engineering degree, ME preferred * Two year associate degree in a technical field acceptable with adequate Quality Assurance experience * Good working knowledge of advanced statistical tools and data analysis * Good problem solving skills * Strong computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and statistical software * Good verbal and written communications skills * Working knowledge of metrology and GD&T * Must have 20/20 eyesight, corrected vision is acceptable provided that with corrective lens, eyesight is 20/20. Knowledge, skills, and abilities desired: * Trained lead or internal auditor * ASQ CQE certification preferred * Plastics or polymer experience preferred * Industry experience in Aerospace, Automotive, or Medical is preferred Zeus Columbia SC
