The Quality Manager develops, implements and maintains the quality and continuous improvement systems to ensure delivery of consistent products to customers while ensuring that the procedures and practices implemented are with best practice and they comply with Quality and Regulatory requirements.

Position Requirements/Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent required

Six Sigma training required

Advanced Degree preferred, not required

Experience: 10 years of relevant work experience in technical field

Minimum of 3 years in leadership position

Essential Duties: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The duties listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

  • Managing the Quality Testing Laboratory, Manufacturing Technical Support, and Technical Service departments;

  • Defining and leading implementation of plant quality systems to ensure consistent delivery of in specification products to customers;

  • Establishing standard operating procedures to ensure that continuous improvement initiatives are met;

  • Analyzing the manufacturing process to provide recommendations for process improvements;

  • Establishing process capability targets using statistical tools such as Cpk and variance;

  • Developing test criteria to ensure process capability and outgoing quality;

  • Designing and revising new inspection methods and equipment to assure quality in products;

  • Ensuring incoming materials meet specifications;

  • Developing and implementing methods to reduce variation in processes;

  • Performing audits on all processes and auditing the implementation of quality systems;

  • Monitoring and assuring that the Corporate Quality system that can include ISO 9001, TS 16949, and ISO 14001 is being utilized and maintained;

  • Overseeing Technical Service Investigations to assure each is completed efficiently and without bias;

  • Developing key customer technical relationships

  • Audits the Work Force Development (WFD) program and training activities to ensure new employees are trained and current employees are cross trained with fidelity to align with ISO/IATF certification standards as well as company goals and objectives

  • Collaborates with HR and Production to develop and maintain Work Force Development programs and related training materials, practices, procedures, and records

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Maintains Documentation by reporting measures for department performance (i.e. Losses, yields, productivity); tracking and reporting quality measurements; and assisting in developing product specifications

  • Demonstrates Color Skills by understanding color science and theory; ability to evaluate color (hue, chroma, shade)

  • Improves Job Knowledge by attending training and keeping relevant knowledge and skills current

  • Demonstrates Interpersonal skills by working independently and with a team; attention to detail; effective time management; ability to set and meet personal and team monthly, quarterly, and annual goals and deadlines; communicating product status with own and other departments

  • Demonstrates Leadership by planning and organizing departments for timely production; communicates company policies and procedures; effectively communicates with executive management and plant employees; delegating workload and responsibilities; ensuring adequate safeguards, maintenance and economical use of materials and equipment; effectively participates and contributes on the plant leadership team; understanding of business processes and basic corporate finance and management principles; leads, prioritizes and oversees team to maximize their productivity and effectiveness; proposes wage increases and succession plans for subordinates; actively participates in plant planning process including budgeting and staffing; coaching and developing subordinates through effective performance management; supporting Plant Manager in execution of plant OEE program, ensuring systematic improvements in capacity utilization; participates in product and process development projects and programs

  • Contributes to Organizational Success by setting and meeting personal and team monthly, quarterly, and annual goals and deadlines; demonstrating company principles and policies; helping others accomplish job results; following all Quality System and safety protocols; ensuring the safe and continuous operation of plant processes, equipment and machinery; wearing proper protective equipment; completing safety training; and contributing to safety goal of zero accidents; keeping work areas clean and organized; developing and assisting in implementation of ideas for continuous improvement; analyzing the manufacturing and quality process to provide recommendations for process improvements.

  • Coordinating of ISO 17025 accreditation activities including: developing, modifying, verifying, and validating methods; performing tests and calibration methods; analyzing results, issuing statements of conformity or opinions and interpretations; reporting, reviewing, and authorizing results
