JOB DESCRIPTION:
1.0 Purpose

This standard defines the Quality Manager job description.
2.0 Scope

This standard applies to the Riverside plant of Adient.
3.0 Responsibility
3.1 Respond to Customer requests in a timely and thorough fashion.
3.2 Train and supervise appropriated staffing to maintain quality assurance.
3.3 Develop and maintain an appropriate annual department budget.
3.4 Develop and maintain a quality systems manual, which will assure product and process compliance.
3.5 Coordinate quality system audits to adhere to as TSI 16949 Guidelines.
3.6 Supply monthly corporate measurable for designated areas. Include action plans and close issues.
3.7 Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any non-conformance relating to product, process and

quality systems.
3.8 Monitor existing vendor supply base performance.
3.9 Interface with customers and suppliers when required.
3.10 Support engineering efforts to develop, maintain and improve products to meet Customer

expectations.
3.11 Analyze scrap and defect data for trends and refinement needs.
3.12 Actively contribute and participate in staff meetings and programs.
3.13 Has the authority to stop the production process if a safety or quality concern is noticed.
3.14 Other job duties and special projects as deemed necessary by the Plant Manager.
3.15 Actively supports plant safety efforts through departmental participation in safety meetings and

safety walks.
3.15.1 Engages in safe practices as well as follows and enforces safety rules and job rotations.
3.15.2 Must be willing to report unsafe conditions, reporting unsafe acts, participating in

safety/ergonomic committees, participating in safety kaizen events, participating in Blue

Sky initiatives, participating in safety audits and safety observation feedback.
3.15.3 Assist the plant in achieving safety goals and maintaining Safe Workplace and

Environmental and Sustainability AMS objectives.
3.15.4 Initiate timely investigations of all reported incidents/accidents and injuries for the

department and completion of 8d's (including the 5 Why's, root cause, containment and

corrective action). May assist other departments with this process as well.
3.15.5 Attend required training and participation in safety and ergonomic meetings as assigned.
3.15.6 Conduct Monthly Safety Inspections as assigned.
3.15.7 Will follow and promote environmental management system compliance and commitment


to resource conservation.
3.16 Review and understand Customer Specific Requirements.
4.0 Process
4.1 Qualifications/

Requirements:

Preferred Education and Experience:

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and three to five years related experience. Related experience,

training, education or some combination of all three may be considered.
4.1.1 Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals,

technical procedures or governmental regulations.
4.1.2 Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Effective and

professional communication and organizational skills.
4.1.3 Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of

managers, clients, customers and general public.
4.1.4 Demonstrate leadership skills and ability to provide direction effectively as required.
4.1.5 Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers,

common fractions and decimals. Must have ability to compute rate, ratio and percent.
4.1.6 Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written,

oral or diagram form.
4.1.7 Must be computer literate and familiar with appropriate software programs and have the


ability to create visual aids for communication purposes.
4.2 Preferred Experience

Requirements:
4.2.1 Quality engineering experience in the automotive industry.
4.2.2 Certified Six Sigma black belt or green belt preferred.
4.2.3 Experience with ISO, TS or other Quality Management System.
4.2.4 Experience writing quality plans, procedures, PFMEA's and control plans.
4.2.5 ASQ Certifications: CMI, CQT, CQE, CQA and CRE.

VIEW JOBS 8/7/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-11-05T00:00 JOB DESCRIPTION Summary: Coordinates, administers and performs the quality function of an engineering and technical nature to ensure product quality and reliability at minimum quality costs. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: A working knowledge of computer systems and software including Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and related Engineering Graphics and Database software. A thorough understanding of the 8-discipline process with emphasis on systematic problem prevention. Basic understanding of Blue Print reading including G.D.& T., gauging and measurement systems. Thorough knowledge of SPC techniques and applications including Design of Experiments and Measurement Systems Analysis. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to conduct small group presentations and training sessions. Thorough understanding of Quality System - TS methodology and requirements. General understanding of Structural Testing and analysis of results including determination of failure modes. Completion and documentation of all phases of the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) process. Prepare and submit all necessary PPAP documentation per AIAG guidelines. Develop gauge concepts and procure gauges for specific programs. Work with component and tooling/equipment suppliers to improve products and resolve manufacturing problems. This may involve travel to the specific customer or supplier location. Participate in Simultaneous Development Teams (SDT's). Participate in internal audits as required. Train Quality and Production personnel in Quality requirements relating to specific programs. Support the Product Introduction Process through all phases of prototype fabrication and delivery. Performs other assignments as required. Safety: Study, institute and maintain efficient and safe work practices, procedures, facilities; by coordinating with the Human Relations Department and Manufacturing Engineering Department and keep them abreast of all safety and efficiency requirements in order to maintain an accident-free, high efficiency plant operation. EDUCATION REQUIRED: College degree, preferably in the Engineering field. ASQC certification a definite plus. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Four to six years in a high volume manufacturing environment.
