Quality Manager reports directly to the Senior Director of Quality and Business Excellence and is responsible for the overall management, development, and administration of Manufacturing and Supplier Quality resources. Quality Manager develops and maintains a Production and Purchasing Quality Management System to ensure best in class quality of products and associated services and to provide highest level of value and satisfaction to our customers.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop a process quality strategy and implementation plan with clear quantified benefits with an emphasis on standardized repeatable processes

  • Provide knowledge of best practices and processes (Quality Management)

  • Analyze existing practices

  • Collect data

  • Implement solutions

  • Provide leadership to each functional group in the area of quality assurance and planning/control; ensuring a smooth transition through product/solutions development, integration, delivery, production and support

  • Support ISO processes between departments

Required Skills

  • Manage Quality Alert process for internal and external customer complaints, quality issues, and escalated incidents; engage cross functional team, facilitate resolution and establish containment, corrective, and preventative actions (CAPA) using 8D, 5-Why, and RCA (Root Cause Analysis) process to prevent issue re-occurrence and overall process improvement.

  • Work with stakeholders and action owners to drive prompt action closure, review closure plans to ensure sustainability, and proactively alert leadership to risks and critical customer issues.

  • Establish Quality Assurance and Quality Control activities (e.g. incoming material inspection, production processes & controls, in process quality audits) to ensure the Production Quality system yields defect free products and services.

  • Establish a Purchasing Quality system to manage Supplier Quality, performance, and quality compliance to Purchasing agreements. Ensure quality of purchased production hardware, consumables, and material/equipment

  • Manage and conduct process audits, inspections, and quality reviews (e.g. project/program reviews, product quality reviews, engineering process productivity reviews, quality engineering system reviews, etc..) to ensure effective performance, durability and compliance with established standards & processes; establish & maintain ISO9001|CMMI certification

  • Leads the development and consistency of process Quality Controls, Procedures, and documents including: AQL Sampling Plans, FMEAs, Control Plans, Quality Inspection Standards, Work Instructions, VSM's, Visual Standards, Defect Detection tools, etc.; work closely with Engineering, Business Units, and Design staff to determine best production practices

  • Oversee the development of Quality Standards and Protocols for Quality Assurance Testing models. Assists in the design and implementation of policies and procedures for testing and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and/or equipment. Guide and provide feedback to project management and engineering teams for new product design and development

  • Lead improvement projects, develops continuous improvement methods, identify opportunities and recommends changes to improve product & service quality and efficiency of processes and customer satisfaction

  • Implement, report, and maintain appropriate quality metrics (KPI's) to analyze quality performance and results across all Business Units, Engineering, and support functions for use in business decisions

  • Customer focused team player with ability to lead and motivate others toward continuous improvement and shared success

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to converse with engineers and non-engineers of diverse backgrounds

  • Demonstrated effective leadership and team facilitation skills

  • Ability to handle tasks with competing priorities effectively

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel spreadsheet development and analysis, Power Point, Visio, SharePoint; experience in Minitab, SAS, JMP, strongly desired

Required Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Sciences, Mathematics, Process Engineering, Operations, Business Administration or a related field

  • Minimum of 5 years' Quality Management experience (manufacturing environment preferred)

  • Ability to travel to office locations, IDEMIA suppliers, or manufacturing sites up to 20% of time (some global travel may be required)

  • Must have good analytical and problem solving skills and be able to handle conflicts (root-cause analysis, corrective and preventative action, etc.)

  • Knowledge of Quality Systems Planning (APQP), including PPAP, AQL sampling strongly desired

  • Green Belt, Black Belt, Lean, Certified Quality Engineer or Manager - ASQ Certification or equivalent strongly desired

  • Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills in order to clearly and persuasively interact with all levels with the organization

  • Knowledge of ISO or other National/International process & quality standards preferred

  • Must have excellent organizational skills and ability to work independently

  • Customer focused, team player, excellent interpersonal and leadership skills

  • Ability to collaborate with cross functional departments

Travel requirement, such as:

  • Occasional overnight travel as required; should not exceed 10-20% of the time

Working Conditions, such as:

  • General office environment. The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated.

Physical Demands, such as:

  • Office environment where the employee may sit comfortably to do the work. Some walking, standing, bending, reaching, and carrying of light items such as papers, books, small parts; driving an automobile, etc. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, and other office equipment.

In this highly visible role, you will lead the creation and establishment of the companys Quality Management System, supporting the immediate commercialization of new and innovative medical devices. As a quality professional in the medical device industry in the Boston area, we know that you have a vast amount of opportunities. What makes this one unique? You will partner with company leadership from the start to build, launch, lead, and grow a Quality Management System. While you may not have management experience yet, this role will be your springboard to the next level. The Quality Management System you develop will focus on assuring compliance to ISO 13485:2016, 21CFR820 and ISO 14971 standards as well as additional regulatory requirements. You will monitor applicable standards and regulations to identify new requirements or revisions to existing requirements, determine their impact to Sanvitas quality system, and implement changes as applicable. You will drive the development of metrics for all areas of the quality system, and report metric results at Management Reviews. To qualify for this position, you might have a Bachelors degree in a scientific or a technical discipline, Masters degree would be helpful.
