The incumbent provides consultative services about quality management in a clinical laboratory setting to management at all levels of the organization. The incumbent, under the direction of the Director, PALMS and the Laboratory Manager/Chief Technologist, oversees laboratory quality monitoring, proficiency testing, and performance improvement programs throughout the clinical laboratory.

Works with pathologists and supervisors to develop, implement, and maintain a Quality Assurance/Quality Management (QA/QM) program that will meet the needs of the Service and the requirements of relevant regulatory agencies. Educates supervisors and other employees about the QA/QM program and about quality control and quality assurance principles and methods.
Oversees all laboratory testing-related external and alternate proficiency testing programs.Ensures the proficiency samples are received and delivered to the correct laboratory area. Works with pathologists and supervisors to ensure proper and timely proficiency testing and reporting.
Ensures that the service has comprehensive and up-to-date information on accreditation requirements from agencies such as the Joint Commission (JC) and the College of American Pathologists (CAP). Works with pathologists and supervisors to prepare for inspections, site visits, and inspections at other facilities.
Provides authoritative consultative services to all levels of management in laboratory quality management. Maintains the laboratory PI program, monitors components and customer feedback.
Develops a system for tracking and documenting continuing education activities of Service employees. Ensures that all Service employees complete required continuing education and competencies.
Plans and conducts programs in course design and teaching techniques for all instructional personnel.Evaluates bench instruction to assure program uniformity and continuity.
Manages the scheduling, training and evaluation of a variety of individuals (medical technology/clinical laboratory science students and employees, physicians, residents, nurses) in laboratory medicine.
Ensures Affiliation Agreements, Program Letter of Agreement (PLA), TQCVL (Trainee, Qualifications, Credentialing, Verification, Letter) documentation is current and routed to the appropriate agencies.
Sends the TQCVL (Trainee, Qualifications, Credentialing, Verification, Letter) template to the institutions with whom we have affiliation agreements with.Sets up student accounts and verifies their submitted documentation.
Evaluates activities and recommends policy changes to correct deficiencies and improve the program.Ensures compliance with educational program guidance/regulations in order to maintain accreditation of the program.
Work Schedule: Days Monday- Friday- overtime/weekend/holiday
