Description
Basic Function:
Primary responsibilities include preparation of chemical and mechanical lab samples, analysis and compilation of data. Must understand and operate Spectrograph & Micro grain inspection equipment and be trained as back-up with Tensile, Brinell, and Ultrasonic.

Responsibilities: General
Accurate scanning in and out on jobs and the proper reporting of processed quantities
Wearing of proper safety equipment; keeping work area clean and safe at all times
Understand customer requirements, our companies internal scrap challenges, rework, customer returns, the impact they have on your job and demonstrate ability to deliver quality & efficient workmanship
Review & inspect all material being used, building self-inspection into everything you make/process
Complete, date and sign-off on all routing information
Perform job tasks in an efficient manner according to given standards
All other duties as assigned
Responsibilities: Chemical Lab
Preparation of samples submitted for chemical analysis and micrograin analysis
Set-up spectrograph: burn standards to qualify alloys. Set-up microscope: analyze grain size to qualify alloys.
Chemical analysis of received raw material to verify the chemical make-up versus the provided material certification
Chemical and grain analysis of material utilized for the in-process production of castings
Computer and Log Data entry
Communication with Melting personnel and Management
Care, maintenance, cleaning and organization of analytical equipment, sample preparation equipment and storage of chemical samples
Responsibilities: Mechanical Lab Technician
Preparation of samples submitted for mechanical analysis; Tensile, Brinell destruct test, corrosion panel
Operation of Tensile and Brinell test equipment to verify that tested specimens meet the material and customer requirements
Computer and Log Data entry
Communication with Heat-Treat personnel and Management
Care, maintenance, cleaning and organization of testing equipment, storage of chemical samples and preparation of Certifications
Responsibilities: Corrosion Panel Preparation
Accumulate required panels; segregate by melt
Create Bar Code label with job & operation code
Complete router paperwork
Pass to Surface Treat Operation
Responsibilities: UT
Use and basic understanding of the ultrasonic thickness gauge instrument and couplant medium or jel to inspect the wall thickness of a casting.
Follow provided UT Plan
Record values of found thicknesses within the plan
Notify the Quality department of any out of tolerance conditions
Ensure each casting tested is clean and free of couplant
Knowledge of procedures to fill out and complete the Route tickets and move castings to the next operation
Requirements
Education/Training:
High School Degree or Equivalent; Degree a plus with chemistry
Tensile, Brinell, Spectrograph operation a plus
Experience:
Basic Math, Reading and Oral Communication, Time Management
Understanding and operation of a variety of measuring instruments and hand tools
Computer Skills: Microsoft Office, Data Entry, Software Operation
Salary Description
