Job Purpose

We are now accepting applications for a Quality Lab Technician position in department 99, reporting to Bob King and group V-PS pay. The opening is for B-shift. The Quality Lab Technician monitors processes, test products and materials and maintain lab equipment. This is a Skill & Qualification position, so to be considered you must have the Minimum Qualifications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, but are not limited to:

  • Demonstrate a consistently, cooperative, self-motivated, courteous and professional attitude and demeanor.

  • Regular in person attendance with on time arrival as scheduled. Punctuality and dependability are a job requirement.

  • Conducts test and performs analysis of purchased and manufactured product as required by specifications and procedures.

  • Monitors and maintains equipment based on OEM requirements as well as specifications and quality procedures.

  • Properly maintains laboratory test/inspection records.

  • References quality requirements, process/product specifications, and/or engineering drawings and bill of materials.

  • Tests raw materials and components using wet chemical and analytical instrument test methods.

  • Conducts product performance tests based on specifications, standards and Quality Assurance procedures.

  • Responsible for rejection of nonconforming material and verifies disposition of rejected material.

  • Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications

Education/Experience: High School Graduate or GED and two (2) years quality experience or battery manufacturing experience required.

Preferred Qualifications: One year laboratory work experience and chemistry education.

Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.

Math Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing, spreadsheet, and database software.

Competencies:

  • Above average written and verbal communication skills

  • Competent computer skills in use of Word, Excel, Access, and Mini Tab

  • Ability to create spreadsheets for analysis and tracking of various information

  • Ability to perform preventative maintenance of lab equipment also diagnose, adjust, troubleshoot mechanical, measuring, and testing equipment

  • Negotiation skills a must for conflict resolution

Physical Demands: Occasionally works in a stationary position. Must have the ability to traverse to all areas of EnerSys locations. Frequently use hands and fingers, handle, examine, evaluation or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms. Occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, alignment, color, comparative size, and ability to adjust focus. Visually judge, observe, and inspect. Must be able to withstand short time-periods of high temperature and humidity to extract samples.

General Job Requirements

  • Must be able to frequently bend; twist; reach; stoop; kneel or crouch.

  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds/11.5 kilos on occasions.

  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time

  • Employees are responsible for wearing the required Personal Protective Equipment in the proper manner at all times.

  • Must be able and willing to work varying schedules which may include nights, weekends, and public holidays.

  • This position is exposed to harmful materials such as lead/fiberglass products. Periodic blood tests are required to measure the level of lead. Precautions are taken by the company/employee to reduce the risk of exposure and help ensure everyones safety.

  • This position requires working in a plant/warehouse environment. Therefore, expect varying working conditions.
