Job Description

The candidate will be part of the Quality Assurance Engineering Team. The primary responsibility will be administering and performing the Quality Items Matrix (QIM) function for Electric Boat. The QIM process is a formal means to identify, investigate, coordinate and provide long term resolutions to construction quality problems that cross the Electric Boat and Huntington-Ingalls Industries, Newport News Shipbuilding (HII-NNS) company boundaries. The candidate will interface with Groton, Quonset Point and HII-NNS Operations, Engineering, Planning and Quality Assurance personnel to determine root causes of the identified problems and facilitate development and implementation of successful long term corrective actions. The candidate will also interface with the HII-NNS QIM program administrator to track progress on issue resolutions. This position will also support audit and turn-over of common Missile Compartment material kits to the UK Royal Navy.

Education/ Experience

Required:

  • High School Graduate or GED
  • Candidate must possess at least 1 year of experience in Quality, Design, Planning or Technical Writing

Preferred:

  • Previous NAVY experience or technical experience in other Armed Service branches

  • Knowledge and experience with Electric Boat electronic systems (MQS, JCALS, MRP, CPJ, EB7G, EWP, Teamcenter).

  • Training/experience in Casual Analysis/finding root cause

Skills

  • Ability to read the interpret blueprints, CAD Models, specifications and shipyard procedures

  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills

  • Must be a proficient user of MS Office applications

The position will be based out of Groton, CT. 50% travel will be required to vendor facilities as needed.
