Summary: Under general assignment, completely and independently performs all types of inspections on materials and products such as raw material stock, machined parts, assemblies and metal castings, as well as purchased finished items used in parts assemblies for conformance to specifications, and verifies accuracy and completeness of purchasing documentation by performing the following duties. Creates first article reports and final packages to submit to customer representatives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Examines material or product for surface defects such as cracks, pits, and incomplete welds.
Reviews Purchase Order clauses and modifications. Reviews contracts, drawing and engineering orders.
Verifies completeness and correctness of Work Order/Traveler. Creates and performs first article inspection reports as required by customer contract, engineering blueprints, specifications and Work Order/Traveler requirements. Utilizes customer specific portals/forms to create first article inspection reports. Verifies specified dimensions of product or material, utilizing normal inspection tools.
Rejects defective parts or material, and marks type of defect on part, container of parts, or inspection tag. Segregates rejected product or material from production/shipping flow. Generates a Non-Conformance Report as required on rejected products or material.
Provides support to Sources Inspector for sell-off of product to customer. CMM Operation and Programming a plus.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university; or three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets technical procedures, contracts, engineering orders, and governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, and procedures. Ability to interface with customers.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software; Manufacturing software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software and ability to utilize a computer browser to access customer portals and information.
Knowledge of normal inspection tools, testing equipment and operations. Able to read blueprints.
Able to comfortably interact with customer representatives. Familiar with AS9102 First Article Inspection requirements preferred.
