Quality Inspector Lead - All Shifts

Position Overview:

The purpose of the position is to perform inspection duties to insure that shipped product fulfills all customer specifications and quality requirements. Please indicate which shift you are interested in through the screening questions.

Specific duties include:

  • Determine if an order is shippable, and conduct final inspection

  • Identify quality issues relating to trimming, manufacturing processes, packaging, and order fulfillment.

  • Collaborate to determine corrective action as necessary with department supervisor and co-workers

  • Document and report inspection findings and results, and monitor corrective actions

  • Refer to work instructions and/or pictures to clarify part specific defects or acceptable conditions

  • Act as key point of contact for all QC aspects, providing QC services and coordinating QC resources internally and externally

  • Act as the primary contact for escalation of issues from Inspection Teams

  • Audit and monitor quality requirements in accordance with the company quality assurance policies and customer specifications

  • Align inspection methods and competences and ensure specifications are available and clearly understood by all

  • Audit and ensure continuous improvement of the inspection process

  • Review new inspection requirements, marked up pictures, specified tolerances, checking method.

  • Enter key inspection process data and perform trending analysis

  • Highly engaged in the education of team members to ensure the quality of product manufactured meets established standards

  • Promotes a positive environment that fosters team work, open communication and focus on quality and efficiency

  • Lead and mentor QC team members

  • Continually train and improve the Quality Technicians/inspectors

  • Provide leadership that champions quality within the shift

  • Adequately and effectively coordinate the support of shift production

  • Ensure that corrective action plans are adhered to and non-conforming products are managed

  • Adhere to all quality and safety standards within the department

  • Maintain clean and organized work area with emphasis on safety, quality, efficiency, and utilization

  • Continually seek to improve work processes and individual performance

  • Adhere to all company policies and operational procedures

  • Perform additional tasks as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Will come from a results focused Technical background within a Quality Measurement role, within a Manufacturing environment

  • Demonstrated exceptional leadership, communication, coaching, and conflict resolution skills

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop teams

  • Strong attention to detail is required

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Excellent time management skills

  • Able to comprehend and follow printed and computer-screen instructions, and direction from supervisors or technical leads

  • Proficient with basic measurement tools such as calipers, pin gauges, micrometers, etc.

  • Aptitude to train on computer-interfaced vision measurement tools

  • Able to use a computer, calculator and do basic arithmetic

  • Able to read and write in English

  • Able to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented work environment

  • Must be punctual and have good attendance

Education Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent degree

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency with SPC and familiarity with Measurement System Analysis is desirable

Physical Job Requirements:

  • Stand for the entire shift

  • Lift up to 70 pounds waist high, carry up to 70 pounds alone

  • Reaching, bending, & grasping

  • Ability to read machine-shop gages & indicators
