Reports to: Quality Manager
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Obtains blueprints and company specification sheet for the item and particular order.
Must be capable of reviewing internal operation sheets against customer blueprints.
Determines inspection procedure to ensure complete verification of specifications and dimensions.
Obtains necessary fixtures, gauges, and indicators to check parts for compliance with specifications, within prescribed tolerances.
Completes certain assurance checklists during the process. Performs dimensional checks of parts while in the machine when necessary.
Rejects unacceptable items, documents nonconformance, and moves the part to the quality clinic.
Completes required company paperwork on machined parts inspection activity.
Able to oversee, prioritize and delegate the workload between the inspection staff and effectively communicate the status of parts to upper Management.
Ability to read and understand work instructions such as Op Sheets, Engine Manuals, Customer Purchase Order Requirements, etc.
Possess a high level of knowledge to determine the proper method of inspection to be used for each part that is being processed and inspected.
Regular and predictable attendance.
Must be able to read, write and understand English.
Ability to verify conformance of machined features using measuring instruments such as a micrometer, caliper, swing gage, etc.
Accurate documentation of all inspections (Ex: Receiving, In-Process, Final) and ability to work with operators to ensure all requirements are met.
Communicates with co-workers, colleagues, and Supervisors to receive instructions and guidance and coordinate activities.
Organize and maintain the inspection department, gaging methods, etc.
Must be able to work independently and efficiently to meet customer requirements.
Cross-train across other in-shop disciplines/ inspection disciplines.
Willingness to work with shop personnel to induct incoming parts and aid in the expeditious shipment of critical parts
Adaptability to different inspection methods
Some lifting, moving instrumentation, performing tests in various areas of the facility required.
Must be able to lift, push, or pull at least 50 lbs.
Regularly required to sit, stand, reach, bend, and move about our facility
Expert knowledge of blueprint reading (G-Codes a must) and machinery limitations.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Must be familiar with Pratt & Whitney, GE, Rolls Royce, and SNECMA requirements.
CMM experience with Open-DIMS and Modus recommended; a plus
Inspection of welded parts using microscopes and nonconvention lasered parts experience preferably or willingness to learn.
Certified weld inspector a plus -Capable of being trained and taking a certified weld inspector exam.
