Position: Quality Technician Filling/Packing Operations

Position Summary:
The Quality Technician is a Salaried Non-Exempt position which contributes to our mission of saving and sustaining lives by ensuring our products and packaging meet stringent quality standards through a variety of sampling, testing and analytical processes.

Essential Job Duties :

  • Perform scheduled line checks which include verifying the correct filling equipment and production supplies are being used, the filling equipment is assembled correctly, the settings are appropriate and the batch signage is correct.

  • Collect samples and verify container, components and over-pouch meet quality standards, verify the accuracy & legibility of the print and check for indications of leakage

  • Examine and verify that the packaging equipment's performance meets quality standards

  • Test and confirm that the equipment is passing/failing batch information

  • Transport samples to and from work area with a Powered Industrial Truck (PIT)

  • Document and initiate the exception process if exception is encountered using the Production Operations Management System (POMS) to research and provide details

  • Record checks and the result into POMs

  • Write and submit changes to a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) document when a process used by the Quality Technician needs an update
  • Enter exception data into a spreadsheet for trending and reporting purposes

  • Participate in the validation process for new equipment, equipment changes and new processes by performing product testing and reporting on the results

  • Notify the supervisor and take appropriate action if any safety, quality or discrepancy issues occur

  • Learn, understand and apply rigorous quality standards, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP)

  • Sustain a clean and safe work area using 6S principles including maintaining and securing provided tools

Work Environment:

  • Can include working in a Class I, Class II, Class III or Class IV Controlled Environment which may include the following dress/gowning requirements: safety glasses, ear plugs, hairnet, beard cover, isolation mask, gown, hood, boots or shoe covers and gloves.

  • There is constant or intermittent noise and vibration

  • This position involves working around moving equipment, machinery and conveyors.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
  • QT Certification or Workkeys aptitude tests (CRC) with minimum scores of: Level 4 in mathematics, Level 4 in locating information and Level 4 in reading
  • Must be at least 18 years of age

  • Must have basic English written and oral communication skills adequate to communicate with other team members

  • Understand verbal and written safety and quality instructions and read and comprehend written work instructions including words and drawings

  • Must be able to perform basic mathematics

  • Proficient in how to use measurement tools (Caliper, Micrometer, Ruler, etc.) as well as basic hand tools

  • Possess or be able to obtain Worksaver Operator Certification

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two to three years of experience in a Quality role in a FDA regulated industry

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires the ability to stand/walk continuously throughout the shift.

  • Lifting and carrying up to 35 pounds occasionally throughout the shift.

  • Normal visual acuity is necessary including the ability to distinguish colors.

  • Must be able to squat, climb, reach above shoulder level, reach at or below shoulder level, kneel, twist and bend at the neck, twist and bend at the waist and balance

See below for descriptions for the responsibilities of a Quality Auditor. All roles of the auditing process provide documentation and samples to ensure quality folding cartons are produced and meet customer specifications prior to delivering to the customer. If non-conformity is detected, the Quality Auditor is responsible for placing the order on hold and soliciting disposition and segregating the cartons to avoiding mixing. This position will learn to perform various testing as required by customer specifications. The Quality Auditor roles report directly to the Quality Supervisor. Tasks & Duties: The Quality Auditor will train to perform one or more of the following functions and may be requested to perform either as is necessary. 1. Work in Process Auditor includes responsibilities according to established WI, including identifying pallets of non-conformity cartons, moving to sorting area, sorting cartons, measuring and converting the total non-conforming cartons using conversion chart, completes paperwork, and follows disposition instructions by QA Manager/Supervisor, and performs line clearance according to WI. 2. Final Auditor performs responsibilities according to established WI, AQL inspection to stated level, pulling samples for customer and sales representative, paperwork completion such as Customer Sample/COC, notifies Account Coordinator of any shortages. 3. Sample Auditor performs responsibilities to established WI including pulling customer samples according to customer specifications and completing COC/Analysis, batch review as applicable. 4. Finished Goods Sorting/ In-Process Auditor performs responsibilities according to established WI, including performing line clearance according to WI, sorting cartons, completing documentation, moving cartons to finishing goods staging area. Also conducts random audits of manufacturing. Each position is responsible for the following: 5. Provides other assistance to the Quality Manager or Supervisor as requested. 6. Works proactively to promote teamwork at all levels of the company. 7. Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures, safety rules, security procedures and instructions. 8. Performs all duties according to established safety policy, including wearing all required PPEs to perform duties. 9. Follows all cGMP and SQF requirements in the position and immediately reports all f concerns to management. 10. Willing to work flexible hours as necessary. Skills & Competencies: 1. Good computer skills. 2. Good problem-solving skills. 3. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. 4. Good communication skills. 5. Ability to work in team environment. 6.
