Astronics-PECO, located in picturesque Clackamas, Oregon near the foothills of Mt. Hood, designs, certifies, manufactures, and sells a wide range of products to commercial, government, and military markets throughout the world. Our highly engineered interior and structural aerospace products are supplied to the largest aircraft manufacturers and are installed in aircraft around the globe, and our military products are used in critical national defense applications. The Max-Viz enhanced visions systems (EVS) are designed and certified for use as an improvement to safety by a vast array of airplanes, helicopters, and unmanned-aerial-vehicles in the commercial, government, and military marketplace. PECO-Controls are well established temperature control devices designed for applications where high quality is a must, such as the hospitality industry, commercial cooking, and other critical applications.

We are looking for an experienced Quality Auditor (Inspector) to join our team to support the inspection operations in our CMM room on swing shift (3p-11:30p.) Your primary responsibility will be inspecting manufactured products to ensure they are within specifications required on the blueprints or to other controlling information/documentation.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Inspects jobs and/or products in coordination with manufacturing, planning, engineering, and warehouse.

  • Setup and operate quality measuring machines and equipment, including CMM's.

  • Operates micrometer, dial and digital calipers, veneer and thread gauges, go/no-go pins, and other measuring tools and equipment.

  • Setup and operate physical properties test equipment.

  • Lay out reference points on sample parts and verify dimensions against blueprints and specifications.

  • Maintain inspection files and completion of inspection documentation.

  • Create new inspection records and folders.

  • Establish work priorities through review of the dispatch and hot list.

  • Completion of first article inspections and/or review and evaluations of vendor prepared first articles per AS9102 requirements.

  • Attends Quality Manual Standards Training and applies Quality Standard accordingly.

  • Observes safety and security procedures; Reports potentially unsafe conditions; Uses equipment and materials properly.

Knowledge, Skills, abilities, and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

  • Previous inspection experience and/or training required.

  • Strong computer skills required.

  • CMM operation experience, required.

  • Blueprint reading experience required.

  • Ability to work independently required.

  • Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing preferred.

  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations where standardized solutions are not available.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, grasp, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb stairs. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 15 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include natural or corrected near vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is intermittently exposed to the outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes, building temperature fluctuation, dust, chemicals, odors and low to moderate levels of noise. Other conditions may include frequent interruptions, working alone, working long hours during peak periods and exposure to computer monitors. Safety glasses and hearing protection are required at times.
