Quality Inspector 1

SUMMARY

You will be responsible for inspecting tufted turf for any defects or inconsistencies throughout the production process, as well as approving product(s) for production. This is a hands-on role that requires a keen eye for detail and a commitment to quality. Assist Quality Supervisor/Quality Lead with any special testing in the QC Lab that may be required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Under supervision and limited decision-making

Under limited supervision and much decision-making:

• Conduct routine and non-routine inspection of artificial turf.

• Perform visual inspections for tufting related defects (loops, backing wrinkles, missed mends, color patterns, etc.)

• Perform visual inspections of unfinished product(s).

• Measuring pile height and stitch rate to ensure they meet specification.

• Perform pile height and/or stitch rate setups for product change(s) on the tufting machine; ensure they meet specification.

• Complete required paperwork pertaining to each product change(s).

• Participate in out-of-specification and failure investigations and recommend corrective actions.

• Enter quality control data in computer pertaining to product change(s).

• Inspect raw materials.

• Report questionable test results.

• Facilitate all internal special test request accurately and in a timely manner.

• Assist in training employees on all testing procedures/processes.

• Assist Quality Supervisor/Quality Director with documentation supporting testing procedures and process changes/updates.

• Assist Marketing/Product development on any outside testing needed.

• Conduct sieve and apparent density testing as requested.

• Conduct visual inspections on raw material, in-process, and finished product including Logo's.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources.

• Assist in the accomplishment of Company goals.

• Helps other employee to accomplish Company goals.

• Performs other duties as may be assigned by department supervisor.

• Participates in the Disaster Recovery plan as required

• Assist in training new hires and mentor others.
