Responsibilities*

An exciting and challenging opportunity to provide advanced project management support for the Anesthesiology Quality Improvement Program and operational leadership of the University of Michigan department of anesthesiology! This position is one of skilled, complex, project leadership involving: high-level communication; confidential data/information handling; communication material design and production; hospital and departmental leadership presentations. This position also assists with regulatory accreditation preparedness and awareness, effectively manages multiple databases related to project coordination, task management, clinical risk reports, etc. The position will be expected to conduct root cause analysis and incident follow-up, respond to inquiries and complaints regarding matters of a sensitive and confidential nature, provide guidance for multiple large faculty-led committees, manage and update web content as needed, and overall coordinate implementation efforts in complex clinical environments with a wide variety of constituents. In all efforts, this individual will effectively establish and monitor project charters, team deadlines, and stakeholder communication.

Required Qualifications*

Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience, plus 5 years of relevant project management work experience. Candidate must be self-motivated and demonstrate excellent judgment in problem solving when developing daily work priorities. The applicant must have strong ability to work independently, multi-task deadlines and work collaboratively with others. Advanced experience in performing and prioritizing multiple computer based tasks is necessary. Must have effective communication skills, relate positively with community and communicate with utmost tact and diplomacy. Candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Office suite PowerPoint, Word, Excel. Above all, candidate must bring sense of continuously improving and contributing to overall objectives of the team.

Desired Qualifications*

A qualified candidate should have a minimum of 5 years' experience in full-time project management utilizing standard project management tools such as risk assessments, FMEAs, value stream maps, usability studies, etc. Data analysis/graphing and database experience is desirable. Applicant should have previous experience assisting with strategic communication preparation, proofing, and editing, as well as authorship of clinical or performance improvement publications.

Service Management The HITS Service Management division provides outstanding products, services, and support that focuses on our customers – physicians, faculty, researchers, students, and staff. The team designs and manages foundational products and services, including collaboration tools, audiovisual and conference rooms, and device services. Service Management provides consulting, information design, user experience analysis, and custom development of software applications and websites while managing and improving the tools and systems of work used by HITS staff. The team's expertise in communication, user advocacy, and engagement helps to ensure that HITS continues to meet customer requirements. Job Summary The HITS Service Management division is seeking a Project Senior Manager to provide project and portfolio management for enterprise initiatives. This role will report directly to the HITS Manager for the Project Management Office. Under direction, the successful candidate will provide project management and leadership needed for the management of a large and diverse division within the Michigan Medicine Health IT structure. The Project Manager Senior will be responsible for the management, performance, and completion of assigned projects, which may be large, complex and diverse and cover scope to engage multiple teams, and potentially multiple HITS divisions and/or Michigan Medicine departments. This includes managing demand through prioritization. The Project Manager will help with all phases of project management from initiation, development, implementation and transition to operations. This role will develop detailed work plans, schedules, estimates, resource plans, and status reports, and conduct project meetings and manage project tracking and analysis. This role will prepare reports, presentations, and correspondence for management review. The Project Manager Senior will assist with portfolio management including staffing plans, project lists, and the like, to use for division-wide prioritization and commitments. The role will require the individual to liaison on process and documentation analysis; Duties would include coordinating logistics and creating and managing documentation for organizational committees. These responsibilities will result in efficient, standardized, appropriate process changes that will be integrated and communicated to leaders and groups. This role will be a part of the HITS Project Management Office (PMO) and will assist with developing project standards, methodology, and best practices. Expertise * Proven experience in managing complex enterprise projects and/or operations. * Demonstrated expertise in creating and maintaining deliverables such as project scope and plan, status reports, cost estimates, communication plan, presentations, risk management plan, milestone/deliverable charts. * Demonstrated experience in managing issues, scope, and quality while bringing projects to successful completion within the cost and time requirements. * Proficiency with desktop management software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, OneNote, and screen capture tools, e.g., Snippit, SnagIt. * Knowledge and proficient with collaboration tools, i.e., SharePoint, Google docs, etc. * Strategic and conceptual analytical thinking. * Ability to analyze financial plans and budgets. * Demonstrated expertise in working with diverse cross-functional teams.
