This position will aide in the design and conduct the statewide cancer data quality control field program that will ultimately improve the quality, consistency, completeness and timeliness of the Michigan Cancer Surveillance Program's statewide cancer incidence registry. This position will be expected to conduct reporting audits, prepare instructional materials and conduct regional training sessions.
This position will serve as liaison between the Michigan Cancer Surveillance Program and reporting facilities. The incumbent must possess and maintain certification as a Certified Tumor Registrar or be ready to sit for the National Cancer Registrars (NCRA) certification exam and obtain CTR within one year. To sit for the CTR exam, the incumbent must meet one of the eligibility routes:
Route A Path 1: Possess completion of an Associate's Degree in Cancer Registry (CRM) or Cancer Information Management (CIM) with successful completion of a 160-hour clinical practicum in a CTR-staffed cancer registry, or Route A Path 2: Successful completion of a Certificate in CRM or CIM from an NCRA-accredited Program with successful completion of a 160-hours clinical practicum in a CTR-staffed cancer registry, or Route B: Have two semesters of Human Anatomy and Human Physiology with 1,950 hours (one year full-time) in the cancer registry field.

Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major.

One year of professional experience.
Departmental Analyst P11
Two years of professional experience, including one year of experience equivalent to the intermediate (10) level in state service.
