Job Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with PerkinElmer EHS training requirements.

  • Implement all current site based EHS aspects of the OneSource program.

  • Implement new or updated internal safety and environmental policies as needed.

  • Responsible for the Quality, Safety, and Environmental site audit/self-inspection processes and Key Performance Indicators.

  • Owns the incident investigation process, including root cause analysis and identification of corrective and preventive action plans (CAPA).

  • Manage the Permit to Work program including the creation of Job Hazard Analysis (JHAs) with focus on issuing permits for high-risk activities.

  • Develop Risk Assessments for onsite activities and maintain the Risk Register

  • Interact closely with vendors to facilitate completion of EHS plan and escort as required.

  • Manage badge access status as needed.

  • Review and approve OEM and/or other third-party supplier qualification protocols.

  • Assist in implementing new worker safety rules and regulations to site personnel and management.

  • Coordinate Site Safety Committee Meeting with HUB Leader.

  • Ensure that standards are tracked, recalibrated, stored, and handled in accordance with prescribed methods to maintain the integrity of standards.

  • Perform required investigations for failed standards when necessary to assess the impact on data and processes.

  • Maintain accurate database and procedures for reverse traceability reports and impact investigations.

  • Provide out of tolerance notifications to site Operations Team within 24 hours of identifying the out of tolerance instrument.

  • Carry out individual assessments, to ensure equipment is fully operational and safe to operate including decontamination of instruments.

  • Implement and operate a quality assurance and safety program that ensures all site activities are conducted in accordance with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.

  • Maintain training and compliance in areas of health and safety, security, environmental and operational aspects of daily activities in the working environment.

  • May be requested to provide on-call service (primary and secondary) for specific research units in the lab areas. Hours are between 5:00pm-7:30am Monday thru Sunday. Tasks include but are not limited to, transfer of contents from failing fridges and incubators to designated back up units, photograph original items, properly document failure, provide a work order of failing unit to facilities team and inform respective end-users about the transfer via email based on the SOP instructions.

Critical Skills:

  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills

  • Technical problem-solving and analytical skills coupled with an attention to detail.

  • Excellent customer service skills complemented by an ability to listen to and interpret requests.

  • Ability to read and interpret chemical labeling and hazardous signage.

  • MS Office Skills: Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in biology, chemistry, biomedical engineering, environmental health/science/studies, industrial hygiene, occupational health and safety management, public health, or relevant field with 3+ years of experience in the implementation and management of EHS and Quality programs and management systems, OR
  • Associate degree in biology, chemistry, biomedical engineering, environmental health/science/studies, industrial hygiene, occupational health and safety management, public health, or relevant field with 5+ years of experience in the implementation and management of EHS and Quality programs and management systems

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience within research operations

  • Experience managing Quality Management Systems for both regulatory and non-regulatory environments.

  • Understanding of lab safety environment, specifically chemical management

  • Success working with subcontractors/vendors supporting mutual safety objectives.

  • Proven track record of success executing high hazard prevention programs; specifically, Lock-out/Tag-out, electrical safety, machine guarding, etc.

  • Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) experience.

Working Environment:

  • Must be able to work in a laboratory, controlled environments requiring personal protective equipment (e.g., lab coat, safety glasses, etc.) in laboratory.

  • Job pace may be fast and job completion demands may be high.

  • Able to remain in a stationary position more than 25% of the time

  • The person needs to occasionally move between labs, corridors, adjoining rooms, and buildings onsite. Frequently operate on instruments, objects, tools, or controls, which will require regularly bending, squatting, stretching, and reaching in order to perform in a service function.

  • Occasionally move or lift up to 25 pounds (potential for occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds).

  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include without limitation, the ability to observe details at close range distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus in order to perform the essential service functions of this position.

  • Occasionally operates a computer and other office machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.

  • Employee may be required to handle hazardous waste according to local, state, and federal regulations. Duties may include identifying, handling, generating, accumulating, storing, and labeling hazardous waste.

  • Potential risk to lab-based hazards including but not limited to extreme temperature, biological materials, hazardous chemicals.

  • May be required to complete Medical Clearance, Respiratory Protection Training, and Fit Testing to wear a respirator as protection as applicable.

The annual compensation range for this full-time position is $71,760.00 to $107,120.00. The final base pay offered to the successful candidate will be determined by factors including internal equity, work location, as well as individual qualifications, such as job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
